What makes this version great is what it has (I,I,I.... Ugh..., Ugh...,Ugh,Ugh,Ugh,Ugh,....) as well as what it's missing (this terrible added horns and the whaling woman).
Sometimes songs can be overly produced and remixed - as is the case with the later more commercial version.
This version isn't anywhere as good as the album version. It's basically a demo. You're an idiot.

Calling people idiots for expressing music opinion is silly. I happen to love this version, its raw as fuck and sounds awesome on 12". Its a nod to a bygone era of analogue production and originality in electronic music.

Yes it does. This is the first version that got limited success in clubs. The universally acclaimed 1985 version was actually a remix by Stephen Hague if I recall correctly.

I bought this 12” single on vinyl in Junior High. I bought the version that you’re thinking of as a 7” in High School.
Just a bit too fast. Tried it at .75, but that's too slow. Needs to be just a bit slower.
