Week 3 (September 10-12) THE POWER OF SOCIAL FORCES
* Stanley Milgram, "Some Conditions of Obedience and Disobedience to Authority," Human Relations, 1965, pp. 57-75.
* Devah Pager, “The Mark of a Criminal Record,” American Journal of Sociology, Vol. 108, No. 5 (March 2003), pp. 937-975.
So you take a sociology class at Berkeley. What if you disagree with the professor politically and philosophically? Do you pass or fail?
I think you misunderstand what sociology is. It is not just a bunch of people sharing their opinions. It is based on empirical evidence. If you disagree that is your right. Sort of like when a conservative Christian disagrees with evolution in a biology class.
Do you pass or fail if you question the political views of the liberal sociology prof?
@@trflock I think you misunderstand.
@@charlesxavier6663 Why should the political views of the professor be present? But to answer your question, God I hope not :)
@@trflock Because every day before lecture you have to hear the speech on the evils of Donald Trump.
