Mittens was the first bot I played against. I thought it would be a joke bot that just made random moves or completely illegal ones because it is emulating an actual cat with no knowledge of the game. Instead I became the joke, I had to dunk on Martin a couple of times afterwards to make myself feel better

If you premove and last until like 10 seconds for the both and instantly start sacking or checking it, it’ll spend 1-2 seconds reacting and “taking advantage” of your blunder. Also it helps if you don’t castle so it can’t really attack you, keeping in mind that you used hippo as an opening

My gut says Mittens is tuned to leverage weak pieces for more advantage rather than taking them, which is a tactic that Bots don't use often. That's why it sits there forking pieces without taking until you make a decision about which one you value more, and uses that time to shore up other parts of the board. It's a weirdly psychological choice that will probably get slapped by Stockfish.

I got 20 moves into my MOST WELL PREPPED LINE and got absolutely humiliated. You cannot convince me this bot was made to do anything but humble us
I did the same and won twice without serious trouble ;p In my opinion it's on pair with maxed out Komodo. Maybe even slightly weaker.

The scary part about mittens is the fact that cheat ai are predictable, it will always make the same move in the same circumstances but mittens is unique, it plays psychological warfare against you, it reads you, the only move mittens is guaranteed to make is a check mate, it will never miss a checkmate
I've tried using the lvl 3200 bit to see if it can beat it and it ended in a draw
I wholeheartedly believe mittens is a machine learning AI that learns how you play as the game goes on to perfectly counter your playstyle

I put mittens up against the 3200 on my other device and it was amazing. Mittens won by blocking all of the 3200s pawns, then taking every single one of them, and then advancing a pawn to a queen to checkmate.
Wow! I thought it is stronger than 3000... I was able to win once using AI engine, it was most bizarre win I ever seen...

The most I’ve ever lasted with mittens was about 10 turns. And this was like a 30 minute long match that consisted of me just sitting there thinking most of the time. Might’ve burned calories from that tbh so there’s a plus.
Playing against mittens is like playing against a real cat, it doesn’t mater how good you are or how flawless your strategy is, it’s just gonna paw the pieces onto the floor and nap on the board
In programming there’s something called an integer overflow, where a number becomes so big that the computer goes all the way back around and sets it to a negative number. I think this could explain the reason for the elo 1 rating.

I started playing a couple weeks ago and thought I'd take a look at what the 1 elo bot was like and had never been more demoralized. After getting murdered 3 games in a row then taking my anger out on martin I looked up if mittens was supposed to be hard and thank god I did.
