My first kayak camp trip was a solo trip. Had to find a nice camp spot and catch some flatheads so I could brag about how awesome it was to get my buddy to go. I think river certified for the inspiration to do so. Me and my bro love river camping now

I really enjoy your videos , I’m just getting into Flatheads fishing pool 14 Mississippi River mainly using gills for bait . After catching any catfish , if I know I’m keeping them ,I lop their tails off and let them bleed out on a stringer out the back of the boat then put them on ice it makes a huge difference in quality of the fish ! No fishy taste and very clean white fillets .

I was flathead fishing and I caught a 7lb walleye using a 8inch Shad, then my hand size bluegill got hit and I got a 10lb walleye within minutes! No flatheads that night but a nice meal later!

Oh, and I wish I could share pics on here, my oldest son who was 17 at the time, cought the largest smallmouth I have ever seen in person here in Indiana. It was at a dam comin out of lake Shaffer (AKA Indiana Beach) she weighed in at 7lbs. 3ozs............1 ounce shy of Indiana State Record!!!!

Be glad you don't have to deal with the soft shells we have up here in Wisconsin on the Mississippi river . Some of the bigger ones get 3 foot across the shell !

Used to run the Des Moines and Skunk Rivers on summer nights using throw lines anchored to tree limbs. Had tags made with auto reflectors. Either the nights did good and the days not, ot the otherwise around. Most of the big cats we got were at night though.

Just a couple for dinner? Buddy you would be frying for hrs and have to have a jug of Frank's. Nothing better than kitty's on the bank. LOL, had some guys down the bank make a 1/4 mile hike for something to eat one night. Made me smile that night.

There has been 1000 lbs. catfish spotted! THAT A MONSTER I seen one in Lake Texoma That was longer than my 22' bass boat. I didn't know how to bring that monster in. with out a gun. It would pulling me and my boat both down with it. It was just sunning in the water, about 2 down. I circle it 5 x trying to figure out how to bring it in with out a GUN. So it finally went down deep. I left EMPTY HANDED

Puttin in some mighty fine work for your clients man! We are entering our monsoon season here so the bit is gonna start picking up around the inlets of some of these creeks that feed the big reservoirs. These cats here are a bit confused and keep eating trout dough bait.....
