@Pankaj ji - Indigo Paints has gone up by 10% today. Asian Paints and Berger Paints also up > 3% each. While the competition may take away market share, the entire pie is slated to get bigger due to the rise of consumption in India in next few years. So, biggies like Asian Paints and Berger will continue to grow sales. Your thoughts pls?

Hello Vikrant, Thank you for your thoughtful observations. Short term price movement can be in both the directions, so while it is good that the stocks went up, it may be too early to celebrate. But, I completely agree with your CONSUMTION thesis. The construction activity and upgrade from customers to a higher priced product is a reality. For example, it has played out very well in Autos. So, the sales growth at these big paint companies will come back sooner or later.

There are a few reasons why we are not capable to do that, a) this is not an area of expertise for us, b) unlisted shares are usually in a very wide range and that makes it precise estimates difficult, c) in unlisted shares, there are factors like control premium etc. matter a lot more, which makes it difficult to value. Apologies for the same!
