JUDGE'S TOWER RULES:
-Infinite Life (or players can have 20 life that resets every turn)
-Infinite Mana
-If you CAN/MAY do something, you MUST do something. As soon as you are able to do it.
-Activated abilities must be activated ONCE per turn.
-X is always 3.
-Players share a library and a graveyard.
-If you break any of these rules, miss a trigger, etc...you lose.
Special thanks to Tam at Coral Sword in Houston for teaching us how to play :) - Hry
What’s your favorite keyword? And what cards should we add to the tower next? We’re pondering these questions like a wizard pondering their orb.
I'd say Flying, cause birbs.
As far as cards go, add Wheel of Misfortune if it isn't there yet!
The mention of Wheel of Misfortune makes me think of Sphinx of the Second Sun and I think that coukd be pretty interesting in a Judge's Tower. It's got weird timing stuff and extra draws and potentially untapping things with tap abilities at a weird time.
Flash!
Equip has got to be my favourite. I just love suiting up and swinging in.
You guys need a Baton of Morale now that you're bringing in judges with you! Banding is one of my favorite keywords just because of this little artifact, negating Trample and having your flylng creatures pick up your other ones, or your stretchy ones help reach things just seems hilarious.
Loving this series. Honestly, I keep forgetting that it's weekly, and then I get excited every week when it drops. So it's not the worst system, lol.
i freaking LOVE the sticker idea, that is such a good addition :D i also love the random sleeves, its gonna become a real rainbow pile in no time XD
coveted jewel is just gonna be attack protection until its a 1v1 game XP
Tower Tuesdays are becoming one of my new favorite video series. Wish I could convince three other people to play this with me.
We hope you can! We’re having a lot of fun with this. Thanks for checking it out 😊
I love Judge’s Tower, and I love it even more when my question gets answered on the show! Thanks Janklords!
Dylan was a great guest, he fit right in straight away.
Thanks for the video!
When my friends and I played judges tower we would actually play with our hands revealed. Made it even more convoluted and confusing
Easier to catch people when they forget their instants too
love this series
jinxed choker should NOT have been exiled as the control effect ends first (see rule 800.4a), then after gaining control back joe would have needed to activate it during dylans turn
not sure who would lose when this was missed
also 13:45 to answer the question, if the player who lost was the turn player their phases still happen as normal and whenever they would get priority the next player in turn order gets it instead (this would have mattered for the choker and might be relevant for end step triggers)
correct order at 15:00 was putting recover and treasure on the stack simultaneously (any order), sac treasure as soon as created, pay recover on resolution to return to hand, encore as a sorcery
Joe would lose imo because he's the one who should gain control of the choker
what would be fun is if after a number of episodes y'all tried to see if you can get a Judge's cert now, like has playing actually made you better at the rules of the game (and as you step up in levels y'all will have a harder time :3)
also, the sticker idea is so fun
you should steal something from pleasant kenobi too and have cards added to the tower by booster tutor be signed by the player who cast it, just to make it more special
Thank y'all for this series. It's incredible
Spurnmage Advocate does, in fact, need an attacking creature to target.
Came here to say this. It needs three valid targets.
The worst part is... Dylan should know this...
I love first strike. For some reason it’s so intuitive. I also love surveil and deathtouch.
I'm really enjoy the judges tower games guys. Thanks for the awesome content!!
You’re welcome!
8:19 jinx choker should not be exiled and just return to its previous controller
this. The control-changing effects associated with the player leaving the game end when the player leaves. Choker is specifically a control-changing effect. So unless they play by the house rule where they just exile everything regardless, then choker should return to the previous controller. (unless of course the owner of the choker leaves the game)
@@erniespratt1660It's a shared library, are they all the owner of all the cards?
@@laytonjr6601 I assume they're not in this case, because there'd be no way to determine whose hand the cards return to for bounce effects etc (those are allways templated to return to owner's hand).
Edit: in fact I believe it goes like this "The owner of each card is the first player to have it enter their hand, battlefield, exile zone, or to be put on the stack."
The cards have tally marks! I'm so glad the hit list idea vibed with you guys. I'll look forward to the tower accumulating kills.
such a good series. love the additions. a must-proxy for sure
Effects that say you lose the game could make the "losing" player exile their hand an board. Then have them phase out until their turn comes again or if they "lost" on their own turn have them start a bew turn as if they just started the game
These are really fun. Educational at the same time.
Kinda wish they did a couple rounds each time!
I'll note that Deranged Assistant has mill as part of the *cost* not the effect. I dont think it would result in a loss, but you should say you are tapping it and milling a card to add a mana, instead of tapping it to mill a card and add mana. One place this makes a difference is that you can't activate the ability with an empty library (which you could if milling was part of the effect instead). It would also effect the timing of the mill, if it wasn't mana ability.
rip dylan (turn 1-turn 1)
Tuesday is a great day for this as there is not usually a huge amount of great content on Tuesdays.
Loving this, keep it coming!
Favorite new magic content!
Love the judges tower content. Keep it up.

My favorite commander makes a brief appearance in this episode.
Who??
"we'll do a slow roll on these"
*speeds up video*
I would love to see some of the pacts, free instants you have to remember to pay on your upkeep. also hivemind would be crazy
Leyline of Anticipation would be pretty crazy in this format
Can always add stocking tiger for another booster tutor effect. if you wanna be hellish one could also add in the 2CMC tibalt to help fill the GY
Searching the library should just mean draw a card then saying shuffle, so you don't have to shuffle but you are out if you forget to say shuffle. Also remember any revealing of tutored cards
You're not sitting in your own seats in the dungeon!
What??
I'm not sure if it's already been suggested... but Doppelgang would be funny in the tower with x always being 3.
Yikes 😳
@Janklord what about using sun droplet?
Add piller of alara it has 5 abilities but due to the rules you can only use its bottom moode
Another banger folks.
Rcommendations: Golgari Gravetroll and the most complicated mutate cards you can find
Oh since they are so short, you could do two or even three of these games in a row!
Just greedy! ;-)
7:44 did I miss something here?
Am I suffering from "Can't remember the hosts' names disease"?
Dyland DID put a charge counter at the end of the previous turn (well, technically he did activate the card's ability). Then he was clearly going to put another in response to the upkeep trigger.
EDIT: No, I didn't forget the name. Dyland DID activate the choker at the end of Joe's turn.
7:25 "I'll put a charge counter on it" then 7:30 he changed the die face from 1 to 2.
There's two ways to put a counter on. One happens automatically when you pass it, which he did. The other is an activated ability, which he did not.
I want to see a judges tower done with
“Silver bordered cards”
Nvm, I saw booster tutor
interesting suggestion for a card maybe something like vedalken orrery that makes it so someone can cast things at flash speed?
Can't play Prophet of Kruphix in Commander but it is legal in Judge's Tower 😈
Orthanc you need to declare target BERORE the scry 2
I thought in judges tower players had to play with their hands revealed.
5:02 I...I know he's a judge but I think he's wrong about how spurnmage works? It says "Target attacking creature" a creature does indeed need to be attacking to activate this, yeah?
You're right, If creatures must go to combat, it can never activate its ability (unless you manage to untap it in your MP2 or during an opponent's turn)
I think the confusion came because the actual card ruling it only list needing two cards in the opponent graveyard to activate... because turns out there few situations where giving your opponents free cards is a good thing.
It also gets more confusing because if the creatures died or cards are removed from the graveyard after you activate but before resolving, any still valid target gets the currect effect applied to it.
Finally, the card reads like a cost:effect at first glance, but it isn't.
you're supposed to play with your hand revealed so that players can "call you out" if you miss a play.
Profane Tutor could have made Panglacial Wurm a really funny add.
Week 3 of asking for Chains of Mephistopheles.
Keeping in theme of Judge's tower, "Main Phase 1" is technically called your "Precombat Main Phase"
But we always love a Yugioh reference!
I feel like it should be a rule that eliminated players can't call out rule violations
