- The new Knaggs Kenai 'J' is Joe Knaggs' take on the classic single pickup formula adapted and loved by so many.
As we've come to expect from Knaggs guitars, these ooze quality and surpass all expectations in terms of tone and playability.
In this video Jack takes the 3 variants of the new model for a spin, showing the huge range of tone you can get from such a simple but fantastic guitar. At NAMM this year we were pleased to see Joe at the Knaggs Guitars booth and hear from the man himself what his thoughts were going into building his take on such a classic guitar design, so we hope you enjoy his insight from when we saw him at NAMM in this video.

The build quality & sound of Knaggs guitars is great but their bodyshapes always look slightly odd!
Apart from the price, this is my dream guitar.
Would be nice to hear it compared next to the Gibson Junior that's less than half the price.
They might want to look into using Callaham hardware at that price point. Might as well go all the way. ( I do! Lol )

Really digging the Knaggs brand. Unfortunately, much more expensive than my Gibsons so...I'll stick with Gibby.
Knaggs always seemed reasonable value for the lower tiers, these seem overpriced. £2k and I’d have a good look, at this price, no chance.
Not surprised by the price, knaggs are always expensive. The HH did sound great though.
really sorry but for the same price, I ll go for the Nik Huber Krauster II (glad you just teamed up with this luthier!) maybe it is due to the import taxes but these kenai J series are overpriced in EU.
Christophe Coste It would be interesting to hear a shoot out between the Krautster, the Knaggs Kenny J, the Gibson LP Junior AND the Epiphone “Inspired by Gibson” LP Special! I wonder which would offer the most bang for your bucks?
Wow. 2/3 times the price of the Gibson. I am stopping watching after 2 and half minutes.. way out of my league
I know what you mean; it seems certain guitar manufacturer are pricing their instruments out of the reach of the working musician.
But you need to factor in that Knaggs' guitars are not "industrial" guitars like the Gibson.
If you visit the Gibson factory in Memphis, you will find they employ very few "skilled" people. All the construction is automatized, while they still require some "hands", they don't need artisans.
The only exception remains the painting. It is still done manually by a guy who has done that for years.
what a ripoff and a load of BS from Joe. Just a slab body and the simplest electronics for over 3K is absurd.I have a Vintage Brand Les paul double cutaway single pickup P-90 that cost me less than $300 that sounds in the ball park of the demo models here.
