The reason the song from 12:45 and out feels so raw compared to the rest of the song is because when writing this song, they told Casey the song only had to be about 7 minutes or so (I don't remember exactly what they said specifically, all I remember was that he was allowed to end the song at that point), but because he assumed this would be his last time making music for DMC, he decided to go all out for the ending, adding an extra 2 or so minutes of pure, raw emotion as a love letter to the DMC franchise

That's right. The music doesnt play for long ingame but with all the transitions and dynamism, they need to be quite long. So they would need about 7 minutes. Then Casey took it to the next level!

Fun fact, Casey Edwards was told he couldn't use guitars at all, only for the chorus toward the end. So he had to improvise and use synthesizers to make the heavy parts and everything before. Another fun fact too, Casey Edwards studied under Mick Gordon, the composer of the DOOM Soundtrack for the modern games. Which is why it has a similar feel. Oh and Bury the Light shares chord progression with Devil Trigger which is top notch.

The drummer for this song is Anup Sastry, who is an insanely talented dude. He's got such a deep pocket, but is also very tasteful with his fills. One thing to also mention is that this was mixed by Adam "Nolly" Getgood, who is one of the greatest rock and metal sound engineers of our time. He's incredibly smart and meticulous with his craft. He's done a bunch of other work, but most notably is one of the minds behind Periphery's sound, as well as they're former bass player. There was a lot of talent that went onto this track, including Victor and Casey. Overall this is one of the greatest video game compositions of all time.

The first big vocal entrance made my jaw freaking DROP! As someone who loves melodies, I appreciate a simple percussion that can drive the rhythm/enhance the music without sounding boring. The meter changes, jumps, and key changes are all EPIC and really make this song so unique!
Okay 12:44 absolutely blew my mind!!
I hadn't thought of how space in a melody can make it more musical. Then again, music tells a story and who makes stories? Humans. And what do humans do? Breathe. So it checks out!

The mood, the story it tells, the energy it provides at diffrent parts makes you FEEL like you're listening to boss music, and this is just what Virgil has regularly in DMC5 and DMC5:SE. The gameplay alone hit the vibe of "you're playing as a boss character, now enjoy" this soundtrack makes you go, "I am vergil here, so i gotta beat em with style but efficiency" and no mater who i listen to with it, wether it be a reactor, a cover or someone cutting into the details of the song and giving details of what it does, how it does it and how they are applied, i always learn something with this amazing ass song. Honestly... how it was all written is one thing. To match all these sounds and stuff together must have been a hard time in itself. But I think the vocals are the reason I think I continue to come back to this song. Just how the vocalist sounds is just... perfect with all the sounds and the instrumentals I'm this.

You should really do a reaction video on the Frostpunk soundtrack. The Game is about surviving in an apocolyptic winter set in the 1800s as the last city on earth. I recommend listening to 'the city must survive' from the main game, to 'the last autumn' and the 'on the edge' theme from the two dlc's. It's entirely orchestral, and my personal favourite soundtrack of all time. I always love watching these reaction videos, because I love learning about what makes the music I listen to so captivating.

The answer to the question is heart. some guitar solo's are just a demonstration of technique, but when you think of all the greatest guitar solo's of all time, the thing they all share is heart. The guitarist is allowing that raw emotion to flow out into the music and thats what make it so special

You should definitely react to Frostpunk ost. It's a game about post-apocalyptic frozen world where people trying to survive in society and soundtrack contains all the feel of frozen wastelands, loss of hope, rise of discontent and great danger aproaching. And by some reasone I feel the vibe of old times, like this type of music is what I would expect to hear if I was back in times of British or Russian empire in around 1900. When people listened for classical music and it was epic and dramatic.

Also dude- the drums at the beginning and end of the song that cut into what was playing before- Just the way it cuts the song up as it goes- It's just so good. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Just that heavy sound is incredible and really ties the song back together, and having it again at the end after that epic peak to really take it back to where the song started is an incredible choice.
