I'm an American football player who loves rugby. But can someone explain to me why these games/players aren't a bigger deal in high school? 4 star recruits in the US play in front of huge crowds(sometimes as many as 25,000+ people) and are household names before going to college
1. Theres not enough money in the game. 2. There are 4 different codes of "football" in australia. 3.Smaller population

How I "fondly" remember my days at Joeys and the sadistic Brothers' torturous ideas of how to instil the Rugby culture. Oh the joy of every Monday morning when Br Anthony Boyd (the paragon of cruelty) would gleefully line up any boys in his class who had lost their game of football on the weekend - just so he could thrash them with a cane. Of course the extra "entertainment' was his arbitrary decision to sometimes include those whose teams came a draw. He even went so far as to give boys of losing teams a stroke of the cane for every letter in the opposing schools' names...How wonderful were those monthly Sundays to visit the parents if you lost your game. Dormitory masters - like Brother Vincent - would refuse to give you access to your own money (received from your family and "safeguarded" by the dormitory master) if you were a member of a losing team - thus preventing you from being able to pay the necessary train fare to escape that den of predatory sadists and barely functional psychopaths...
