Going 27 today, with 11 of these years listening to Jawbreaker. Since the very first day, I knew this song would pull me through for years. Thanks for that, you guys.
Now you're 33, how's life been treating you?
@@WormdrivE66 Better than ever. Even with the thorns of life and COVID restrictions, there's a sun outside to keep us alive.
@@l12f3r wholesome. glad to hear it
@@l12f3r the thorns of life… nice reference
how is 34?
i love jawbreaker sm
Because of this song I started to read Kerouac. And I don't regret a thing.
so glad i just stumbled on this!!! thanks for sharing, great song, great footage.
Folks you can do a lot with G, C & D and a great drummer. It’ll sound like everyone and it’ll sound like you.
_do you call that being authentic?_
great drummer is the key to every great band. Adam is THE SHIT.
Check out “Molly’s Lips” by Nirvana!
I wish my friends knew that you had way more songs than just this, but this footage is priceless.
24th and mission!!!!! i got food poisoning from the happy bowl across the street from that mc donalds in 97'
"Open 25 Hours"!!!! - RIP Lance.
Kiss kiss Molly's lips! This has to be the inspiration!! In love it. I'm aware Molly's lips was a cover.
This video reminds me out the Kids in the Hall intro
Legends. xx Miss you, Blake.
Bloody Marvelous
best band realy!
little bit of heaven, The song and pre tech SF.
Thank you guys. 🖤 I love your shit.
One. Two. Three. Four.
Who's punk what's the score?
+Zach Lanum Sum Five. Six. Seven. Eight.
41 isn't punk and it's 0-1 in favor of Jawbreaker
best band ever
Here because of Mikey and his Uke. Hadn't heard this song in 20 years. great nostalgia!
I dont think some of yall realize how influential jawbreaker actually was, like the dozens of bands that try to copy their sound is insane and they also proved a huge example of what it was to be a "sell out" in the punk community
Bad azz. Love me some Jawbreaker!

WHY are NOT FAMOUS
you're all alone
you're all alone
you're all alone
woah I actually saw the McDonalds and the Bart stop in san francisco on this video. that is awesome and that mc d place is still there after all this time
+Carlos Euceda I used to prefer Arnels pizza up the street
You're not punk, and I'm telling everyone
Save your breath, I never was one
You don't know what I'm all about
Like killing cops and reading Kerouac
My enemies are all too familiar
They're the ones who used to call me friend
I'm coloring outside your guidelines
I was passing out when you were passing out your rules
One, two, three, four
Who's punk, what's the score?
Got a friend, her name is Boxcar
Cigarettes and beer in El Sob
Her hair was blue, now it's green
I like her mind, she hates the scene
My enemies are all too familiar
They're the ones who used to call me friend
I'm coloring outside your guidelines
I was passing out when you were passing out your rules
One, two, three, four
Who's punk, what's the score?
You're on your own, you're all alone
You're all alone, you're on your own
Those are some dumb lyrics.
"You're not a punk, and I'm telling everyone."
"Save your breath, I never was one."
I don't know... That dismissal of the punk label, and punk elitists, ironically, seems very punk.
Considering where they're from...thee most elites of the punk.
Too bad they missed locals like Supercharger and the RipOffs...totally missing real punk rock of the 90s. Who cares?
Pegboy ruled this "style"
That’s as punk as you can get, not caring about the punk gatekeepers
People in the early and mid-90s were just itching to spot a poser
@You're wrong I think I get "the lesson." I'm just saying it's a blatant paradox.
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
24 Hour Revenge Therapy and Rock For Light. If you don't own those two albums then what the heck have you been doing with your life?
For everyone saying they sound like so and so. Here's some breaking news. They all sound like Jawbreaker! Jawbreaker was around since the 80's. Do some research. Sum 41 was learning to walk. Even Green Day gives mad cred to JB.
Ok
green day has been around since the 80s too tho
but i get your point
@@user-ri3cr6eg3y That's true. All I'm saying is that Jawbreaker doesn't get the credit they deserve. If you listen to a song like "want" from Jawbreaker and then listen to blink 182 for example, it's easy to see where that sound originated from. Jawbreaker is what Greenday could have been if Greenday wouldn't have signed to a major label. I have nothing against any of the newer bands.
czcams.com/video/IvInTQhWkeQ/video.html
More breaking news, Jawbreaker sounds like Crimpshrine. Haha, gotcha
🤘🏻
I wonder if that is the same cat from the album cover
it is!
Yup
Haha is it?!
It is
quintessential and authentic pop punk. love this song!
it's emocore
Let's skip the stupid labels lol
nices song
..nice lookback, thanks Adam.
The Mission!
xoxo The Clarences
Great Production btw! No doubled stereo guitar´s and similar stuff.. Just mono bass, guitar, vocals and big punchy stereo drums! Straight but Fat! :)
Thank you, Steve Albini, For everything 💔🙏
I’m actually surprised that this didn’t sample from Molly’s Lips by Nirvana
If you like this song, or jawbreaker in general, you WILL LOVE the Japanese band eastern youth. It is said that their 1998 album completes the sound that jawbreaker aimed for. Look it up, or look up the song ashioto, some don’t like that song, but I do
Big part for me of pop punk is understanding the lyrics, so not really into foreign language bands in this style. I'll listen to bossa nova or some shit but listening to pop punk in Japanese to me seems pointless
@@alexandria279bc5 fair. Consider checking them out though. The sound speaks for itself.
I really love the album 「旅路ニ帰路ガ燃エ落チル」!!
I think bloodthirsty butchers is also the band that appeals to the Jawbreaker fans.
Eastern fuckin youth. Yes
Eastern youth is seriously good

All over, mostly the upper Haight but also 24th and Guerrero and then sunset/Richmond etc etc...
my first apartment was off octavia and haight....
wasy35 Oh you with your calling Gurrero the mission. What is this, the 1920s?
Joseph Sullivan I never claimed I was in the mission mastermind rather I just called it the once mighty mission cause of bands like Jawbreaker, Hickey, etc etc....
WOW An Original Vlogger. Cheers Mate. #Doittoit!
this is fuckin cool
So these are the guys who started this whole Emo-pop thing? Not that bad actually. Pretty good even.
You guys are like "whoa, this sounds like this and that punk rock song"... Hasn't you ever listened to a Ramones album yet?
Why does the credits say 24 Hour Revenge Therapy? This is the Dear You version of Boxcar. An error on Adam’s part?

Jawbreaker is one of the very few bands that I would refer to as punk, and that I would also refer to as emocore. Despite their technically being one of the pivotal emocore bands according to the general consensus, and the fact that they therefore would have to be placed into the emocore category if I had to make a designation, they really feel like they can fit into both categories. It has something to do with their unique sound, which is very punk and very indie, more so I feel than many of their contemporaries within the emocore genre. It is hard to pinpoint what exactly It is about their sound that makes me say this, but the feeling is there nonetheless.
You're thinking too hard.
@@joeydanielski962 nonsense. I disagree with you on a fundamental level the problem with most people is that they think too little. thinking too much is not possible. it's the energetic frequency of emotions that matter
@@guyvandermire4146 You can only put thing into so many little boxes like that. Convoluted. It's also only my opinion. I think you're squeezing it.
I understand that you're obviously smarter than most people though so that's alright.
@@joeydanielski962 are you being serious when you say I'm smarterthan most people or are you being facetious? I understand your other arguments. I was a bit harsh in my previous comment. I apologize. I also appreciate the speed at which you replied.
@@joeydanielski962 to be honest, I'm still trying to understand what you meant with the other things you said in your last comment. they were interesting things.
Ah man, HUNT'S DONUTS !!!!!!

Jawbreaker is apple core. Jawbreakers are Wonkacore.
You ever put this on in the car and drive off? If not, you should
SHE SAID, SHE'D TAKE ME ANYWHERE, SHE'D TAKE ME ANYWHERE
I miss Hunt's Donuts.
I heard this on the radio today and thought it was a rip off of Dynamite Hack's Pickup Lines, then I realized this is older and that's probably a rip off of this. : P
“Kiss, kiss, Molly’s lips”!
Songs this sounds like:
1. Green Day's "She's A Rebel"
2. Nirvana's Cover of "Molly's Lips" by The Vaselines
+Punkaganda mollys lips is older so this song sound like that but she a rebel is not so that song sounds like this one
I know, but it's just the fact that they all sound similar
true
Two words: punk Rock
Punkaganda no. NO. "She's a rebel" sounds like "Boxcar"

Fuck sum 41 and their fans.
Too bad there are no lyrics. I've no idea wth you're saying.
@Cuck Fensorship those lyrics are of those more intelligible ones really. Something like Sunny Day Real Estate or Radiohead would fuck you over if you can understand those ones

The godfathers of punk.
Gary Stephens I'm pretty sure that the punk movement already existed like two decades beforme them.
I'm pretty sure too, the only reason I labeled them the godfathers, is because they are like the best punk band of all generations.
Gary Stephens this band is actually an emotional hardcore band, but whatever.
HiOak lol right, its like more clueless people discovering stuff. Rights of Spring is emo YAYYY!
+16CharlyV gary has a good point. between 24 hour revenge therapy and dear you jawbreaker was a polarizing band in the punk scene. for reference, check the song I must be hatefu by lagwagon

Or the riverdales, the mopes and teenage bottle rocket by the looks of it.
This is awesome. Just look how beautiful the Mission looks, it's got like half as many people and look how few white people. When I ride my bike down Valencia now I'm always amazed at all the normal looking clean white people. I'm a 3rd gen. city native. I remember when the Chatterbox was the only thing on Valencia open at night between El Toro and Clooney's ...besides a liquor store or two. 24 years ago...
You don't like white people, I take it.
