    Look at that, your process is so much easier than using coils. I love the textured designs, what a treat. Thank you very much.

    So helpful! I am a relative newbie, and have not been able to understand how to get a smooth, round bowl without darts or folds until this video!!
    Thank you SO MUCH!!! 💃🏻✨✨✨

    Beautiful pieces!! I’ve been making pottery for a long time and this is one of my most annoying things to do. I always seem to get darts. I have gotten some beautiful flop bowls from not being able to get the waves out. Lol. I’ve found that cutting the excess off as soon as I can really helps.

    Love this idea and when you're not as good on the wheel as you'd like, it's a great way to make a bowl that's straight and lovely inside; loved the glaze and the finished bowl. Thank you for the video. (from Sandi)

    What would you normally use instead of a stocking? Thanks

      Typically I use a plastic bag, but I do get small wrinkles from the plastic. Or I use a cheese cloth. You can use pretty much anything as long as you have a barrier between the clay and the plastic bowl. You can also dust your clay really well with corn starch so it is not sticky so it doesn't stick to the plastic bowl. Thanks!😊

    How long did it take to cure? And how did you cure it? How did you put the paint on? You didn't finish it in the video.

      The piece is dried until it is bone dry and then fired in a kiln for a bisque fire. It is then glazed and fired a second time. I did not show the glazing because most of my pieces are just dipped in a bucket of glaze. Not real exciting 😊

    Its that just compressing? And does it not thinning the slab when you use the roller?

    • @blackravenpottery4253
      @blackravenpottery4253  Před 5 měsíci

      It is pressing the impression of the doilie into the clay. I am not pressing so hard as to really thin the clay out.

    Hi I live in Australia, I haven't seen those plastic doilies for quite some time. Could you tell me where you purchase the plastic doilies from ?

    • @blackravenpottery4253
      @blackravenpottery4253  Před 5 měsíci

      This plastic doily was given to me so I have no idea where it came from. I imagine you can probably purchase something similar on Amazon, however, I also use a lot of regular knitted doilies with the same effect. Good luck!!

    Where did you get the plastic doily placemat?

    • @blackravenpottery4253
      @blackravenpottery4253  Před 6 měsíci

      It was actually donated to me by a local college as well as a bunch of other pottery stuff. I would imagine you can probably find something similar on Amazon, however, I also use regular doillies that were my mother inlaws.
