[True! But that's still psychotic from my eyes; getting her teacher to half-heartedly repeat a statement to motivate herself thru jealousy to succeed is delus¡●nal with extra steps! Riri demanded her teacher tell her something shell never be to "motivate her".
The underpaid, overworked and clearly exasperated older schoolmarm said, "uhh..i dont know. Youll never be as smart as Tony Stark."

@@EJOW159 Nah lol. I don't read modern Marvel comics so I had to find this and read it just now and to say that she is "FURIOUS" in all caps is about as disingenuous a description of those panels as I could come up with. She's DISAPPOINTED when she tells her teacher that she wants to be an astronaut and instead of being told that she can't do that, which is what was told to her hero, Mae Jemison, when she told her teacher that she wanted to be an astronaut, her teacher instead encourages her to pursue that. Riri's response is to explain this story to her teacher and she says "I was kinda hoping you'd tell me the opposite so I would have something to inspire me to prove you wrong." In all of her text there are zero exclamation points and one italicized word.
If you Google "Ironheart wants to be an astronaut" and go to the images you can see the panel for yourself. Marvel comics suck and Ironheart is probably trash, but a lot of these comments are dudes just lying to each other about a comic they probably didn't bother to even Google, they just heard a story and it became Gospel to them.

I was shaking my head the first time I heard her origin. A super-genius that can't invent something she could sell to get the money she needs?
Anyone remember the origin of Doctor Doom? How he and Reed Richards studied together and only few could even start to follow their conversations? How they build their own computers at college because those of the university weren't good enough? And remember, Doom was there on a scholarship. He would have had to earn the for that somehow.
How does Reed Richard finance a skyscaper in the middle of New York and all the materials he needs? By selling some low-level inventions (by his standards) he makes on the fly.
But no, that takes too much time and effort for Riri Williams.

      @qwefg3 Před 26 dny +52

Riri is the new brand of heroes... Where they must be given everything in order to succeed as they can't do anything.
Doctor Doom? Had no money and built stuff to sell in order to get his fortune and country to its current state.
Tony? Got a company given to him, but he worked hard to make that first suit in the cave.
Worked harder to make an improved version of the suit and how to make his weapon production company into a viable non-weapon based company.
Also continued to making new suits, new improvements, and different purposes for specialized suits with even instructions to allow other people to use the suits easier.
Riri? Stole an already working suit and slapped her own spray paint in the comics.
In the movies she was gifted an already working suit based off the Iron Man data Wakanda already took meaning her suit was about as difficult to build as making 3D models in a 3D printer.
Now? Now she steals working parts of Iron Man suits and sticking them together in already made blueprints... Minus her minor changes to slap her own logo on it.
For goodness sake Vulture and Tinkerer had more self respect as they built their stuff out of garbage and made their own inspection and ideas!
Garbage men were able to make their own stuff, their own profits, and be original over a girl who is complaining how having to work to get money is the worst sin society could inflict upon her as she should be handed everything to her!
Her motivation is worse than literal super villains!

2:45 As strange or silly as this sounds, Parker Robbins is actually a well-established supervillain in the comic books since his first appearance in 2002. He actually goes by the name “The Hood”, and this isn’t a reference to a hoodie; apparently he gets his cape and hood as well as boots off of killing a demon, and is basically trying to be a Kingpin kind of figure.
The more interesting thing is that while The Hood might have had tiny brushes with being a anti-hero in the comics, that is a very legit straight-up villain character they have “teaming up” with Riri.

Robbins is actually a reasonably okay villain from the comics. His eponymous "hood" is really a cloak made from a swatch from Mephisto's cloak (obtained from a deal of course). Unlike most villains in Marvel, he doesn't immediately try to rule the world, but instead starts to build a crime syndicate one careful step at a time, always thinking that's the plateau where he'll stop. Sadly, pitting him against Ironheart in the MCU means they plan on him dying and never being seen again, so they'll probably make him very 1D.

Wow... they really decided to make her backstory a triple layered stereotype.
This literally took me 5 minutes to come up with a better one: Her application to MIT triggers a secret "Successor Protocol" left by Stark where she unknowingly achieved the required combined personality, moral, and intellectual scores. Jarvis/Friday have been scanning every applicant for years and calculated Riri as the first potential successor but this is only step one. She now has to earn deeper levels of the protocol by proving herself to Jarvis/Friday with her actions and her successes will unlock more of Stark's tech and research for her to adapt but her failures will trigger more challenges in the protocol designed to help her grow into the hero Stark wished to become. Add this in the tension that she has to do this all in secret until she reaches the last level, otherwise the protocol will lock her out and Jarvis/Friday will restart the search for a different Successor candidate again.
It's like winning the Golden Ticket but now your workload has tripled while you try to keep it a secret from everyone.

At this point “hero” is an artificial label. Kind of like how Wanda was the real villain of WandaVision, but the show runners artificially made her a hero.

Being a "terrible person" fits RIGHT IN with the entire Acolyte model of storycrafting. Terrible, and yet another sample of making future role models for "the younger ladies that never had someone that looked like them when they were young" in it. *EYEROLL*

Great superhero motivations summed up in 1 sentence:
Superman - "Truth, justice, and the American way."
Spider-man - "With great power, comes great responsibility."
Iron heart - "I'll show them!"

    Side tangent:
Everyone misunderstands Sister Sage in The Boys.
They either think she's poorly written like Iron Heart as someone who's supposed to be the smartest person on the planet.
(Literally says the same damn line as what's her face whenever someone says she's the smartest woman on the planet.)
Or they defend her without any evidence and say she is the smartest person on the planet because that's what the show says.
    Both are wrong.
The Boys is a subversion of comic books. Sister Sage is a self centered narcissist like every other character on the show.
She's smart but more like a con artist is smart.
I can imagine a little "Dexter" monologue in her head every scene where she's using every bit of her intelligence just to get out of the room alive every time Homelander is talking.
Got fired on purpose, that's for sure.
She didn't plan any of those deux ex machinas in the season finale though.
She just played the cards as they were dealt and took credit for the chaos.
She is a subversion of the Iron Heart character.

.... I was on a post, talking about a black WW2 vet, who despite the ideals of the time, still served, and had to become a video game MC, monster up and neutralize the threat to him and his crew, after they got ko in a battle. Some superhuman type, the, apparently first supersoldier, that Capt America didn't know about , level ish. And after a few thousand views on the comment , about the narrator, fittingly hyping this absolute Chad up, by giving him Nick names.. today we get a few of the lesser lifeforms on there, doing what they do, thinking what they think and then saying it, cause it's not in anyone's face, and their safe behind their keyboard. And about a vet, from an actual, blood n guts war. A man who , somehow survived, adapted and overcame enemies of the state and country to save his men. Solo.. he soloed the final boss!!! I mean the type of stuff that literally screams "AMERICA"
and these POS ignore all that, just to be POS that they are
. Soo Ya know what. This story , from a guy, u said adopted huh??? Ya, well nah, this don't surprise me one bit. I'd say it's pretty on brand. "Let take a positive, albeit annoying, strong, intelligent, promising black women, and ish allllll over that, and smile about it"
Ya... That's Hollywood as a whole
Question though... And I'm as mercenary as the next clock puncher.
But when the actors and actresses , read the script.. put 2 n 2 together, and still played this BS out.
I wonder what they thought about the implications and message that this would portray.
Or did they stuff all their pride and ideas down deep, and cash that check

In my underground basement lab I’ll make progress they can only dream of! They’ll regret they denied my genius, they’ll regret it bitterly! Muhahahaw!!!”
That’s the quintessential mad scientist villain origin story isn’t it? It’s Captain Nemo, Herbert West and Dr Doom.
I wish the MCU would just embrace this and make a story about the rise and fall of a supervillain protagonist.

The fact that Disney already gave iron heat 2 shows(Iron Heart 2025 & Marvel Rising) while she's been existing for LESS THAN 8 YEARS, while denying Rhodey, A FAN FAVORITE ANF ONE OF THEIR 1° & MOST PROMINENT LEGACY CHARACTERS, to be featured in any media(TV Shows, Games, even live action at this point) for the past decade , aside from being GROSE, needs to be studied ☹️
