Bix Beiderbecke was Dad's mentor, warning him against drugs and booze. "They steal your music," he often said. Dad tried to mentor young musicians as a musician and stage manager. Few listened. Many became members of the 27 Club.
@@MissingInAmericaThe1st24Hours He was a brilliant musician haunted by addictions that did steal his music and then his life. Dad took his message to heart and never drank or smoked. He tried so hard to reach younger musicians: Janis Joplin, Gracie Slick, Sly Stone, Johnny Cash... so many. I remember random bands having tables set up in dressing rooms with bowls of smoke, pills, and booze amongst the food. All Dad could do was give them information. Couldn't make them use it. In the end, Bix was right.
Hi! I have just found your new channel and I’m so pleased. I stopped listening to the other channel when I realised you were no longer on it. The other presenter lacks sincerity and warmth. You always sound like you genuinely care and are personally invested in each and every story. I look forward to hearing many more of your stories. Thank you xx
That's awesome! The Music Man is one of my favorite movies of all time!! My Grandma used to play that movie all the time when I was little so it reminds me off her. Such a great movie!
Any individual that goes missing into the unknown is a broken heart 💔 for the rest of their families life , so devastating and sad. 🙏🏼Tnx Steve for this upload .
Regarding Rockefeller's case, there is speculation that he actually joined the tribe, based on a 1969 photo which shows a white man rowing on a canoe with the other tribesmen. It's a rather clear photo and if authentic the man depicted definitely looks like him.
I had forgotten about Richie Edwards. Was a massive fan back in the day. I do hope he's ok if still alive, though seems unlikely he is. Enjoyed this episode.
If only Connie Converse knew she developed a cult following and her music was finally appreciated. Oh that’s just so crazy how life… and death can work out sometimes. Just sadly intriguing.
STEVE!! Another good video! 🤩 Keep up the amazing work! I love listening to you narrate stories. God Bless You! Oh, and my Cat *Sharlite says Hi! 😻 Thank you!
If you do another video like this...maybe have the subjects music playing in the background. as long as copyrights permits it. Love it p.s. MORE OREGON STORIES... I'm from the Umpqua/Douglas County area but all of Oregon would be cool. Or per state. Keep it up

Sad. The music of the Manic Street Preachers always resonated within me, but it wasn't and never will be the same without Richey 😢 I truly hope he just walked away and is living in obscurity in Indonesia.
@@TalesUntoldYT Very memorable story. I'm from Mass. and a former musician, so the woman who wrote songs in the 50s but wasn't recognized until 50 years later was as well.
I gotta know! I’m 66 born and raised in California. No stranger to the good bad and ugly ok! But why do artists have to be weird? I don’t get it? You don’t have to be strange to have talent and be noticed. I mean… come the hell on!!

What a brilliant man Mr. Miller was. He was a true music artist.
Prayers for those families left without answers 🙏 Thank you Steve for sharing their stories ❤❤❤
My brother was a trombone player as well. He was in the “Music Man”

He must've been a really good tromboner to make it in that movie!
One of 76 trombones.👍😃
...and he's also missing?

I don't really believe that. Nobody cares, not even your family. In this life, you are on your own
Thank you for focusing on the personalities behind the publicity. Stellar tributes.
Great story the only one I knew was Glen Miller because my mom used to play his records. Enjoyed the video thanks steve

I read some where that each member of the 27 Club had a white bic lighter on them when they were found dead .
I've heard that too! 😳
They came on the market in 1973.

Oh Glen Miller. I love him❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What groups weren’t high in concert? Dah!
Thumb-up for pronouncing Edinburgh properly, nice one Steve
