  • The NVIDIA Jetson TX1 is NVIDIA's embedded system with 256 CUDA cores and A57 ARMv8 CPU. Think of it like NVIDIA's Raspberry Pi used for robotics, visual computing, etc.
Putting the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 in Force USB Recovery Mode is hard! When I first saw the Jetson, I had no idea what the buttons did. Force Recovery Button? Where is that? There are no labels.
I was installing CUDA 7.0 on the NVIDIA Jetson TX1 with NVIDIA's program, JetPack, and you have to put the device in Force USB Recovery Mode, so I thought that this video would be useful for people.

THIS IS AN INCOMPLETE GUIDE - this guy neglected to mention that u need to install jetback on an ubuntu or other linux OS. Run jetpack and connect the jetson after following the force recovery buttion instructions. The jetpack program itself it pretty straightforward once you have it launched.

You blurred through the most important parts! 1) how did you verify the host machine saw the NVIDIA (I saw you do lsusb, but only once and 2) when did you actually "start" the flashing?

I guess that the objective of this particular video was mainly to show how to put the device into Force USB Recovery Mode.
      1) Since I saw NVIDIA Corp in the Devices tab in Drag and Drop, and I checked it off, I assumed that the host machine saw the NVIDIA device. I didn't really double check.
      2) I started the flashing process an hour before the video. It took an hour since I wanted to download CUDA and other packages with the JetPack program. Eventually, JetPack will reach the step as seen in the video to flash the NVIDIA Jetson TX1.
I outlined what I did on a blog post instead of in a video:

Hi @MicrowaveSam, my Jetson TX1 ran out of memory and can't boot anymore, I am forced to flash it, but your guide just shows the proccess to force recovery and install. How do I actually get there? I already have a VM with ubuntu on my mac, whats next? I connect to the Jetson, but how do I actually flash it? Thats whats been bugging me for some time, really appreciate if you could come back to me on this soon, its for my final year project. Thanks a bunch
