Sailing through DOZENS of Shrimp Boats Dry Tortugas to Marathon

- tulasendlesssum... We had some amazing sailing conditions minus a few squalls to sail from the Dry Tortugas to Key West and then on to Marathon. As we left Key West we sailed through a TON of anchored shrimp boats seeking refuge from the northerly winds. It was definitely a cool scene!

Too cool. Thanks. Brings back great memories from the1970s on my first cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to S America (chased by Haitian pirates then sailing into the hurricanes to escape the pirates) and back to Key West o---) Lesson learned. NEVER sail off a dangerous place on a no moon night but hey, there was no radar or GPS etc back then. No computers nada. I wish you two the best of everything life has to offer. Most of all, be safe and survive the adventure :-)

Key West was a lot better before the Big Ocean Liners came in, was a lot better town. You two are really great. Good sailing always.

Next time drop the sails and dingy any time you see the shrimp boats anchored up and have some packs of smokes and a 12 pack or case of beer and hit up the shrimp boats for a huge bag fresh key west pink shrimp!
