I think Blood Blockade Battlefront is the only anime that can get away with the first twenty-four seconds of its opening being a sunrise.

Chrú Magbakal I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be good. From what I understood of the lyrics it’s basically a song about a person being the center of the world as a hero getting a lot of attention so he can’t even pretend to be sad (empty) just my interpretation

@@chrumagbakal7024 I think of it as a bit of both. See, the way I interpret it is that the song is about a person who is the center of the world. The song even says "Surrounded by a world, painted in colors of my choosing", implying that the world is truly his, and he can do as chooses with it. But he starts to notice that he is in every scene till the end. And he no longer knows what to do, since everything he has has been hand-fed to him. The song then goes on to say, "Where do I find meaning in the scars I could not chose", supporting the idea that everything he has has just been laid out right in front of him. But he also realizes another thing, he realizes he can't escape it, because he is the only hero, and the world depends on him because of that. The song than says "I can't even pretend to be empty", which is him excepting the fact that he can't escape it, because if he even pretends to be empty the world won't know what to do. So he has to be upbeat, and be the world's hero, that way the world can stay positive. And can’t not know what to do, or be sad/scared, because if he is, then the world pays the price.

In my opinion Tokyo ghoul second season ED is the best like at the end of every episode it shows splendid art about the anime and the art is different each episode I think it deserves to be the best(also like fate/zero ED)
I love how the lyrics fuckin describe Leo's story to its full. He didn't want to be a hero, he doesn't really see himself as one, but he continues doing what he does, even though he sees himself as utterly pathetic and useless. (Which isn't true in the slightest, although it's interesting how sometimes, he really is useless and hopeless.) it's amazing how real his characterization is within this story. Most people we consider heroes (mainly celebrities) now don't see themselves as one, only if they're completely conceited in all honesty. Leo's characterization and development is the best I've seen, really.

Oh, my heart. I feel something every time I watch the opening or hear this song. This series is and will forever be my favorite because the characters are all so unique and interesting and I love to see the challenges that this "not typical" protagonist faces. He's not strong or incredibly smart like the others, but is kind and loving and so relate-able on so many levels from the feelings of unworthiness he feels to guilt from others selflessness to wanting to solve problems non-violently. I love Leonardo Watch so much (and Klaus von Reinherz and K.K. too ).

After years of watching this anime I just kept going back in this opening. It just hits differently like Unravel. Although Unravel brings an emo mode but this thing is just pleasant. God I wish leonardo watch was some OP mc or rather a combat type. His eyes are just way too badass for a non combat type. Even the way he pose while his eyes are opened are intimidating
It’s funny though, it seems that leo not being op or a “combat type” is the point, he’s trapped in a constant whirlwind and all he can do is try to work with what he has

I'm 5 years late but this anime gives me the feels and i really love everything about this anime. It's a true masterpiece! This song and this op gives me chills and the ending is one of the most creative endings i have ever seen in anime. A true work of art. I know a lot of people still haven't seen this anime so i'm gonna recommend it to my imaginary friends. :>
Yea, this came out when I was a freshman and it’s always been one of my favorite openings ever since. It’s always good to see someone else stumble upon a great anime and opening. Tell your imaginary friends it’s a good show.

I like how they showed the how Leo was never in the heat of the battle with the group but usually watched as they did the fighting.... until he had to protect his sister which led to one of the greatest rescue scenes in anime history

i tried the dub and one line from Leo's voice actor was all it took to drop it immediately. his japanese voice is much better, and even if the other voices are good, the main character's voice is the most important and i really cant stand it in the dub

Might be because the manga is releases only 1 chapter every 3 months, though I'm not sure what exactly the anime has covered since I have yet to watch s2. Season 1 also strayed away a lot from the manga so that may be a reason why. I'd still love to see a third season though

i agree it's amazing, though i can understand why people arent all too keen towards it due its pacing and underutilization of some characters. But i believe the characters they utilize are done well, the animation is smooth and detailed, the ost, voice acting and sounds in general are well done and thus i consider it my favourite anime.

Of all the anime openings I've known and loved, this one of the *very* few that gives me chills every time i hear it
How you can invent a 50/50 of sad or epic and fun anime, give it a opening with a "sad" lyrics but it sounds epic, and finally give an ending with happy lyrics, happy rhythm and I want it in just dance, this 3 are usually the exact opposite
Revolving shots if done well are some of the best animated scenes

I resonate with nearly every line in this opening, I love it. Such a wonderful expression of a philosophy very similar to the one I fell into.
The world is what we make of it, and it's up to us to find meaning in it's hardships. And no matter the struggle, we're forced to participate all the way to the end. We can't even pretend to be empty, because we know what to do even when we forget. So here I am, embarrassed to be strong enough to still be alive.
As a person who approached the brink of suicide, I found that I just couldn't do it. Not only was it terrifying, but I just couldn't justify it to myself. I'm going to die no matter what, so I might as well struggle through life just to see what surprises it has. And that's been my philosophy for 12 years now. Life hasn't gotten much easier for me, but even at it's worst, I've got no choice but to hunker down and wait for my next chance to take a step forward. And although I can't change my lot, I can change how I think about it. This philosophy hasn't given me happiness, but it has given me the opportunity to stumble across it as the years go on. And the mindset to make it for myself every single day. And I often fail at that. But being given the opportunity is all that you can ask for.
