    • @fenrirslip
      @fenrirslip Před měsícem +9

      @@blackgold754 But here in the US, it's a different story due to massive cities. I don't see EVs going away in the US, but they're definitely not the saving grace that these EV fanatics think they are. Even if we had the charging infrastructure along the highways of the US and other roadways, charging is an absolute nightmare in cities like New York and Chicago where the population of people surpasses the amount of cars on the road. Just imagine the cost of living if half the people in an apartment building owned an EV let alone if there's a charger available for everyone which in itself is impossible. EVs as the only solution to this going green approach is just simply unrealistic in the US. In fact, it's not even the only solution for the entire world.

    • @blackgold754
      @blackgold754 Před měsícem +3

      @@fenrirslip It is a realistic solution. I disagree that cost of living would skyrocket if everybody owned EVs because gas cars were once a luxury too for those who could afford it and eventually, everybody too started having gas cars. Ev infrastructures does not simply include charging infrastructures like charging stations all over the place. It also involves creating of new batteries like solid state batteries that is actually resistant to flames or explosion of it were to interact with oxygen. Additionally, we will also have wireless charging infrastructure and fast charging car. We already live in a world where people have to wait in lines for minutes and even hours just to fill up their gas!
      Human beings aren’t exactly monoliths. Not everybody is going to run of if battery in their cars at the same time. There is a proper time and schedule to how people charge their cars.
      For example there are car manufacturers who can make affordable EVs like Hyundai ioniq 6 Se long range trim so when you they make more EVs available the parts become common and thus insurance too will cool off for EV consumers. Besides whether it’s EV or not, the cost of living is already high in major cities. Sure, we don’t have to make start with the cities, but other areas like in towns, neighborhood, and country could definitely benefit a lot with EVe as R&D progresses in future along with public transportations.

      How on earth are any of the Lexus V8 cars “the real mk5 supra”? The only thing they have in common is a front-engined/RWD drivetrain. The b58 supra is a MUCH more realistic successor to the MK4 as it weighs about the same, has a very similar drivetrain/powertrain, & similar dimensions.

    • @anydaynow01

    • @RandenMontalvo
      @RandenMontalvo Před měsícem +6

      @@anydaynow01 The issue with that logic ( and im a Lexus hyper fan ) is the LC is the slowest Lexus current performance variant due to its weight. It would not be the ethos of a Supra to have a chassis based of an LS to be a new Supra. To even compare it to the Supra chassis weight-wise is ...and I say this as a Lexus fan....just not acknowledging physics. The MK5 Supra Chassis is by far better for what a modern-day Supra needs to be. Weight is king. There would be no MK5 Supra without BMW so we need to celebrate those wins. Even an RCF TE at nearly 500 lbs lighter than a fully loaded LC wouldn't quite fit the bill for a Supra. The Supra a modern Supra...needs to be light and a sports car. Toyota achieved that with a highly tunable, light weight sports car that makes great power and handles well along with being faster than nearly everything in its class.

      I used to be a hater of the new supra too when they first came out. I didn’t like the exterior design & the fact that it wasn’t fully made by Toyota. Then I saw one in person & did some research on it & found out that it’s basically the best option we had for a new supra. BMW engines aren’t all bad/unreliable; the b58 is one of BMW’s best engines (& apparently, Toyota made some changes to it to make it even more reliable).

    I see LC500 as one of the best engineered and sounding car that Toyota and Lexus has ever put out(of course besides LFA). As a person who owns a 22 MKV GR Supra and have driven LC500, I feel MKV is a good sports/GT car true to its lineage. Sure you are not going to get pure Japanese car but the name and the ethos continues with the BMW partnership. I personally always wanted a GTR (R35) but 15 years of production and inflation just made it attainable to only a select people(a brand new GTR in this case) or if you are a collector. A new MKV Supra opens up door for many car enthusiasts who are into modifying their cars and enjoying a light sports car in general. In the end LC500 and Supra are two separate products for different demographics. We should be thankful that in the times that we are living, Toyota is still able to afford and continue a full luxury GT coupe with astonishing V8 in LC500 and MKV Supra with an inline 6 powerhouse. But credit and respect due where it's due, Lexus/Toyota V8 in the LC500 is remarkable and truly unique. Enjoy them while they are still around. I wish I can have them both side by side in my garage in the near future. By the way big fan of your channel and content Kirk! Keep up the good work!

Its chassis makes no sense for a Supra. Not even the RCF TE which is roughly 500 LBS lighter than an LC ( insane when you think of it ) isnt optimal for a modern Supra, the BMW chassis was a better option for the Supra at the time. Even if bmw has better engineering focused on performance, if lexus can bring 80% of it for a fraction of the cost it would be a win. The LRF will be limited production and unaffordable to most...like the LFA was. Once Toyota/Lexus incorporates their solid state battery tech (600+ mile range), then I'll consider an EV.

They’ve definitely gotten better over the years, but I’m sure they can get even more efficient if the industry just tried.
