I don't blame Nekroz as much as I blame the ritual summoning method in general. I love it to bits, but it sucks. It's extremely costly to summon a ritual monster, comparable to fusion summoning, but you gotta main deck the fusion you summon too, which also makes it bricky as well. On top of that, most rituals just aren't good enough to justify that intense minus. As a result, Konami prints generic ritual support thats straight up dumb to try and counter this. Manju, Djinn Releaser, Prep, Pre-Prep, Impcantantion, Arc-Light. All of those are insane if you were to imagine other decks having cards that do similar things. Then you add a deck like Nekroz which is naturally designed to handle that minus themselves and have a Ritual win-condition like Trish that actually does something. So who is truly the problem? The deck that actually functions on it's own? or the general support that the other decks need to be even remotely playable? Personally, I don't have an answer to that question other than 'Rituals should have been better designed from the beginning', but I find that it could lead to an interesting discussion.
I mean, it's not like nothing could have ever beaten Nekroz. People legitimately believed that Vendreads would have been better than Nekroz, based on their first wave of support. Pre-prep targets, with generic ritual spells. Stacking multiple quick-play banishing effects on the same monster. Semi-floater rituals that replace themselves, and use the dead copy as ritual material. They seemed like they would have been way better than Nekroz, just due to the general powercreep of the game. But then, the next 3 waves of support had absolutely none of what made the archetype promising. No more floating rituals, no more pre-prep targets, no more quick-play removal effects, etc.
The thought of summoning Unicore onto my the field while my opponent has the extra link set up sounds like so much fun...they get to sit back while I tear apart their hard work lol
2Kaleb an imp is a small evil spirit. An incantation is a spell to summon or conjur something: basically a ritual summon. So Impcantaction just means a summoning by a spirite
Demise and Ruin is pretty terrible. Was very dissapointed in those cards. Gishki is actually really cool with a variety of playstyles, but had some terrible design philosophy behind it. Only 4 of their rituals see play and they only use 1 of their 3 ritual spells. And those 4 rituals are used in completely different decks. One of them is literally only played as a searchable trade-in target. One insights turn one Hand loops and the other encourages turn one deck outs. Vendreads suck in that they don't function as their own deck, but with generic Zombie support and the assistance of your friendly neighbourhood Firewall they are the first ritual deck I've seen to be able to extra-link somewhat consistently due to the fact the rituals float and a fair few of their regular monsters do too. Origin also can trigger Solitaire's second effect too which means even more spam. Of course Pencival and Bookstone don't really help these decks, but that's mainly just because none of them need it. Demise and Ruin want cards that make plays, not come after them, Aquamirror being non-opt means Gishki already have stupid amounts of recovery and Vendread would rather focus on things other than relying on their Rituals as dumb as it sounds.
I have a Vendread deck with a splash of Lair of darkness...it works ok enough imo. However it has no extra deck wich is my most frustrating point (however gonna see if i can splash those Mayakashi in there...that should fix that)
Hand: Ariel Candoll Any 3 Nekroz cards(at least 1 Ritual spell. Either Mirror or Cycle). Special Candoll. Eff. Special Talismandra. Eff Search Sophia(provided you dont have it. In which case search Gungnir/Trishula/Second Sophia as situation warrants). Normal Ariel. Eff. Reveal the 3 Nekroz in your hand. Reduce Ariel to lvl 1. Play ritual card. Summon Sophia. Not revolutionary or anything, but I just wanted to share.
You can tribute the 2 impcantation monsters to summon zaborg the mega monarch pop itself and send 8 from your extra deck (arc light, ntss, toadally awesome, omega) and 8 from your opponents and YOU PICK
I’m gonna be playing EVERY Ritual Deck now with the Impcantations. Hungry Burger Turbo, Vendread (obviously not gonna focus too much on the Impcantations), Nekroz, Gishki, Armageddon, Herald, EVERYTHING.
Can I please get cards to help with my BLS deck and make it more consistent and not as bricky? Seriously I like the new support for rituals which pretty much says fuck master rule 4, but I wish the made more ritual focused decks that are as good as Nekroz or Gishki before the got as many of their good cards band or limited
Vendreads have a consistent extra link combo now.. I'd say they are better than nekroz even with this support (since brio, shurit and the level 4 are in the banlist)
Why would you run these in Gishki when Aquamirror already gives you all the recovery you need? Doesn't help that the only Ritual worth summoning in Gishki currently is Zeilgigas, which is a Level Ten, which the other two Impcantantions conveniently make.
edy miguel There's also Gishki FTK, but the only way to support that is to print more generic draw power without a once per turn clause. (So it's basically impossible unless you play OCG where cards like Upstart is at multiple and Card Destruction and Chicken Game is legal.)

Also, y’know, you’re probably playing Nekroz, so the odds that you wanna go into your extra deck are relatively slim. If for no other reason, these are best in Nekroz bc Valkyrus gets them off board while drawing cards
Pencival and Candoll are lights, Mega Zaborg can destroy itself and send 3 Arclight from Extra Deck to gy to search 3 ritual card- If you Playing Nekroz, you can also send 3 Toadally to recover 3 Nekroz from GY to hand. Send Omega to GY to shuffle Archlight/Toadally back to Extra deck... and N'tss to destroy opponent's card. That's at least +2 and up to +7 depending on your play, ignoring the fact that Impcantation already adds a ritual card. Did I mention that it also mill half of your opponent's extra deck in the process?
My main issue I’ve been having splashing these guys in decks is the extra deck restriction. Sometimes I get stuck with one on the field and no way to get rid of it. And it’s not like they have stats to be really useful for anything but tribute fodder after their effects have been used
my point was, thats what i have been having to do and theyre useless in defense and force me out of the extra deck, i much rather be able to extend my plays with some knightmares or something. altho, pulling off a summoning sorceress and sending one of these guys to opponents field is great.
Maraino Federico Beraldi nah, not necessarily. All Nekroz monsters can get hit by called by the grave. Additionally. Most of them can be hit by ash blossom and or the new ghost sister (the good Nekroz monsters anyway). And there’s still a card called “dimensional barrier” which just shuts down the entire deck for a whole turn. You cannot do the Djinn lock anymore, cause that’s banned. And the list goes on... Nekroz would be pretty cool and definition fun to play, but I doubt they’d exceed tier 1. Again.
Candoll and Talismandra are all you need as they set up your Zielgigas and make you go plus. Then Aquamirror does everything these two do but better. Point is, these literally do nothing in Gishki.
The book is the only one that is really useless in Nekroz. Cause you know, you have no problem really getting ritual spells. The others though? PERFECT! 3 Candoll, 3 Talis, 2 Pen for me
TheflamingWol f See I never find having a problem with levels myself. You can make Valk with the Senju/Manju and Candoll, Trish with Pen and Talis, Clos with Pen, Gugnir with Pen and Candoll, Armor (I play 1) with Talis and Candoll and Uni with a Herald from extra. Brio is always a discard so no worries for him and I don't play Catastor. Book just doesnt seem useful to me with his eff, while Pen is super useful for bringing back Unicore or Brio from Grave, or even a Trish or Armor if need be
iSearch.youtube Book also lets you get your final copies of your spells back, as well as for getting spells while there’s still something on your board. At the very least, play one for your fringe cases and to up your count of Imps. Personally, I find myself running out of the resources I want in deck quickly, so I prefer a larger count of the recovery Imps than searching Imps, especially because Pen is so good
Kate Really? I never find myself going into that much of a grind game that I don't have ritual spells left. If anything when I do go into late game, I am sitting there with 3 ritual spells in hand and nothing to summon
iSearch.youtube My resources, as a whole, tend to burn fast, and having a 5 that both enables easier Trish/Valk plays and lets me leave more spells in deck, if I want (so I can discard Claus for grave prep, if I want) is just really nice. Spells are the first thing I thin in Nekroz, because we have 3 Prep of Rites, a whole bunch of direct/indirect searches, and now Book. If you’re playing 3/3/3, that’s too many, when you could have room for more tech-y options like a 1-of Gungnir or Armor, among other things
I'm really enjoying that deck atm. Super soldier is just a FUCKING BEAST at OTK'ing your opponent, not too difficult to go into at all. I have a 50/50 win ratio with the deck so far and that's without handtraps.
Thats not nekroz fault, the other ritual decks are just ass. Rituals have the huge problem of being dead if you dont draw the right combination, nekroz never had this problem due to the monsters having in hand effects. If konami wanted they could make another good ritual archetype, they just dont want to.
Majin Flo You’re playing Pen (to go with Talisman) anyway, in Nekroz, so that’s not too big a deal, and Book/Candoll also makes 9, so you’ve got some options, and searching a monster can very easily become a spell search. Hell, Pen + Trish/Claus/anything that can search them is a 2-card Trish, even if you can’t tribute Pen/Talisman for whatever reason

I don't think the cards were terrible. I just don't think that they're tier 1. If you're looking for terrible cards, look no further than mayakashi.

TheflamingWol f See I never find having a problem with levels myself. You can make Valk with the Senju/Manju and Candoll, Trish with Pen and Talis, Clos with Pen, Gugnir with Pen and Candoll, Armor (I play 1) with Talis and Candoll and Uni with a Herald from extra. Brio is always a discard so no worries for him and I don't play Catastor. Book just doesnt seem useful to me with his eff, while Pen is super useful for bringing back Unicore or Brio from Grave, or even a Trish or Armor if need be
iSearch.youtube Book also lets you get your final copies of your spells back, as well as for getting spells while there’s still something on your board. At the very least, play one for your fringe cases and to up your count of Imps. Personally, I find myself running out of the resources I want in deck quickly, so I prefer a larger count of the recovery Imps than searching Imps, especially because Pen is so good
Kate Really? I never find myself going into that much of a grind game that I don't have ritual spells left. If anything when I do go into late game, I am sitting there with 3 ritual spells in hand and nothing to summon
iSearch.youtube My resources, as a whole, tend to burn fast, and having a 5 that both enables easier Trish/Valk plays and lets me leave more spells in deck, if I want (so I can discard Claus for grave prep, if I want) is just really nice. Spells are the first thing I thin in Nekroz, because we have 3 Prep of Rites, a whole bunch of direct/indirect searches, and now Book. If you’re playing 3/3/3, that’s too many, when you could have room for more tech-y options like a 1-of Gungnir or Armor, among other things

I'm really enjoying that deck atm. Super soldier is just a FUCKING BEAST at OTK'ing your opponent, not too difficult to go into at all. I have a 50/50 win ratio with the deck so far and that's without handtraps.

Thats not nekroz fault, the other ritual decks are just ass. Rituals have the huge problem of being dead if you dont draw the right combination, nekroz never had this problem due to the monsters having in hand effects. If konami wanted they could make another good ritual archetype, they just dont want to.
Talismandra is lvl 6 so unfortnutaly doesnt add up to 9 with candoll
Majin Flo You’re playing Pen (to go with Talisman) anyway, in Nekroz, so that’s not too big a deal, and Book/Candoll also makes 9, so you’ve got some options, and searching a monster can very easily become a spell search. Hell, Pen + Trish/Claus/anything that can search them is a 2-card Trish, even if you can’t tribute Pen/Talisman for whatever reason
