"Arsenal are doing what they are supposed to be doing" is such a weird statement because it makes one the hardest jobs in any football club seem like something simple. Competing for the title and being in a title race is a good ambition but it's delusional to expect it every single season, no matter how bad you want it. By saying it this way, Lee is making it seem as if any manager could just walk in and get us into a title race and Arteta deserves no credit for what he managed to do.
We have seen "serial winners" fail in the premier league and I bet if we got someone like Conte or Mourinho or any other serial winner, Lee would want them to be sacked within a year or two.
It's cool to make fun of a process but it was clear to most fans that, at the very least, Arteta was giving us an identity. You can't just look at the results of 8th, 8th and 5th to make a judgement on whether something is working or not.

You're missing my point. There is a transitionary period of reaching the position in which you can consistently fight for the title. We have just reached ours. I think we fight for the title next season as well, but it takes time to get there. You can't sack every manager until that point. You think if we got a "proven top manager", then we would have been in a title race three years ago with that squad ?

Wesley Fofana was at St Etienne at the same time as Saliba, was considered the lesser talent by far, went to Leicester, played immediately & was their Player of the Season in 2020/21.

I have rarely watched Lee, but from the few I have, I can see where people are having problem.
He's very detailed in laying out the negative in the team when he criticises, which is fair play. And I did hear a good part of the live yesterday, and I don't even think it's about him having to apologise or give credit. It's just when the team is doing well, he doesn't analyse about it, and only have it as a given, "This is what they should do."
As Terry said yesterday, smart man ask "Why?". It seems Lee only share it when we are bad, and take it for granted, on the outside anyway, when we are good.

@@christopherward7443 emery was sacked on 29 Nov, on the back of 7 winless streak. It was epl game week 13, arsenals was in 8 place, after 13 games on 18 points (shitty average points per game). Tbh on that season, pool 37 pts , Leicester 29 pts and city 28 pts were way ahead, we were 19 points behind the leaders. It is still doesn't discount the fact that arteta came in to a dysfunctional inconsistent team, disillusioned fanbase, imbalanced payroll/financials and no distinct consistent style of play. The amount of work to be done is insane.

During Wenger’s reign Arsenal lost its identity, it had no culture, it became toxic inside and outside of Arsenal. Emery came in and it was the same..This was down to the owners and the board for not running Arsenal football club as it should be. We needed a reset, a plan, and man who knew what was needed to get Arsenal back to where we want to be. Arteta was tasked with completely transforming this club, inside and out. How could u expect a man to do this within one year when when we had been in decline for over a decade? Blame owners and the board, I can side with Lee on this, as it was their decisions that ultimately contributed to our decline. But to hold Arteta accountable is wrong. He never assembled the squad he was given when he took the job. Things were never going to happen over night based on the players we had at the time when he took over. Yes he made a few “stop gap” signings until we identified all the talent needed to take us forward. It was all part of the process, something Lee never saw or believed in.
Arteta didn’t sign some of those duds! It was a “super agent” who was obviously just interested in lining his own pocket.

Lee, Saliba could have played last season and been a complete disaster. He’s made mistakes this year, if makes them last year at Arsenal he’d have been hammered. He was our best defender last season because he wasn’t at Arsenal

I don't agree with Lee on any of his points. To build a team takes a long time, to make it competitive takes a long time, to blood a new manager will take a long time. Arteta won the FA cup in his first season, in a pandemic and lockdown, 0 plaudits compared to Ten hag winning the league cup with more home games and fans present (the way the media lauded them was disgusting). Lee forgets that Emery came in just to manage and changed nothing about how the fans felt towards the club. Arteta has rebranded Arsenal, back to an international powerhouse of a club after just 3 seasons, he's connected the fan base together, to the likes we've never seen/heard before. Lee Gunner is for me, the worst fan arsenal have and I hope we stop giving him a voice on any platform. If he cant be happy with what's happening in this Club right now, there is no hope for him.
