I’m 29 and absolutely need to move out soon. I hate living with my father so much to the point that’s it giving me stress and anxiety. I’m now trying to save up so that I can get him out of my life.
it is indeed not easy to make the decision to move it - it is usually bc of bad family dynamics. i applaud these ladies for taking a bold step, it really is not a decision to make lightly

I moved out and it provided so much space that I could actually think. And eventually realised I still love to stay at home but need my own personal space. So perhaps a rental room near my actual home
i think it is quite rude to be vacuuming the house when you have friends over especially if it is made known that their hair is the problem… like you could’ve at least waited for them to leave or move to another area of the house mah… why the rush?
I decided to vacuum after but I found my friends taking the vacuum themselves and cleaning my floor 😂 It’s not rude, they understand it’s my own home and they understand I keep it clean on my own. It’s a form of respect.
in america house brands arent really that much cheaper then named brands anymore... so i dont get housebrands anymore... im not worried about a 25 cent difference between the brands
I think it's better for those without family problems to stay with their family more cuz those with family problems will need the space to be away from them. Just from my experience, feel free to disagree
It really affects the mindset and creates much more independent people. It would explain why young men in Singapore are so soft despite doing two years in the army. Having your mum look after you well into your 20s and 30s has made a nation of mumma boys. Move out if you can!
If they have no problem with their family, why do they need to move out. That’s unneeded expenses. Renting a house is approx 1-3k nowadays. That’s at least 20k a year just for rent. Also, the income for fresh grads is only 4-5k, that’s going to be 30% of their salary.
Lol imagine thinking you're a "stronger" person just cause you move out. Ive seen joker's that moved out but barely do laundry, just buy new clothes. Just because you live with your parents doesn't make you better. Some of us actually have to take care of our parents and family too, if anything moving out is easy cause u just need to settle yourself
I understand the rental savings but men become very reliant on their mothers to look after them, and become so soft. Women in Singapore are much tougher than the men. It’s a problem and creating a huge void in leadership ability.
Sometimes moving out saves money in the long run if there are bad family dynamics. The stress from living in abusive family environments can really impact mental health and trigger chronic illnesses. The amount of money, time and resources to treat chronic illnesses from such root causes can be expensive too.
Can I say it’s sad to see the current generation are eager to move out and its sad. Adulting does not mean moving out. Renting is totally a liability. Should buy a house instead. If not just stay with parents? Because not much time left.
different people have different parents, some nice , some shitty. i assume you grew up in a heartwarming and supportive family, so you will never understand and be inclined to think that such actions are foolish. just take it with a pinch of salt, not everyone is lucky to be born into a good family.
You can be independent living with own family too. Some would be the ones doing the housework at home and also paying for the bills etc. It depends on individual and home condition.

If you're gonna move out without any partner or children, you can do so when you've made enough to buy one. You can very well build an independent personality despite living with your family members (which can range from 1-4 in most cases). I moved out but overseas, at 15 years old. No choice but to rent. They didn't feel hurt also because it was for a "better" life (school & job). (Before anyone says I'm a rich person's kid coz I could afford to move overseas at 15 y/o... No. I got a full-ride scholarship that provided even free dorm and some living allowance monthly.) Yes, living alone can be quite stressful. You get to be very aware about money and budgeting very early in life. And nobody will take care of you when you're sick. I don't miss my life when I lived with my family tho. I only missed the family's maid lol. It's not always a good financial decision to stay with family also. Some families keep asking you for money and you won't be able to say no if you still live with them. Enough emotional blackmail for a lifetime. No more. In their words, "if you never needed to experience that desperation, I'm happy for you." The key thing is to not judge. Only the person who felt desperate enough to need to move out knows.

Not the same. HDB room can be about $800-1100 for common room. Condo room I believe can be about $200-400 more in general from my observation
