There’s nothing to get. It’s some rebellious fad. They use it as some edgy and mysterious personality development, or lack of. The sorta people who watch marvel films and wear them dragon t shirts you get on the market.

Because that means they think including the name satan represents the fact that they are able to separate that name from supernaturalism and superstition.
The fact that they are able to include the name satan and not see it as representing the devil, evil or hell.

Satanism based
My understand is that they're named Satanists for political reasons. They challenge crazy religous laws by saying their religion needs equal representation as well. They help to prove how absurd those laws are.
The trifecta of the edgelord: (i) satanism, (ii) veganism and (iii) straight edge. This way everyone gets moaned at.
The way I understand it is that it's based off Satan being a much more empathetic and humane character in the book than God is, and the main argument they'd make is that if you believe the book is all real, then Satan is far more caring amd loving to humanity than god is and you should be worshiping him.
Yea I mean the Bible is God's side of the story and he still comes across as the bad guy. I think God kills somewhere around 2.4 million people because he made a mistake/wanted to prove an imaginary point/wanted to make it all about him, whereas Satan killed a grand total of 10. Makes you wonder why God's alleged best angel would turn on him...
Satan hardly appears in the bible. Not even a description.
