- Tough, lovable and charismatic, the 2024 Nissan Patrol is a modern cult machine, though its Y62 roots are getting painfully old.
This new update brings a fresh infotainment system and a swag of techy upgrades to drag the big and boofy Nissan more inline with the times. And with a three-grand hike lifting its price to around $112,000 on road, you pay for it.
Does the Nissan Patrol Warrior’s new tricks make it even more of an appealing bargain against the likes of rivals Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport, Ineos Grenadier and Land Rover Defender?
Road tester Dylan Campbell takes the Warrior on-road and off-road to find out.

If u buy a big car like that u never worry about the fuel usage, if u did u wouldn’t buy it
This looks better than Toyota's LandCruisers (specially the 300) and more appealing to me. THAT sound ❤
Very nice review, love the Nissan patrol
Nothing wrong with analogue dials and a nice easy to move shifter. Not everything older is bad.
Pretty decent fuel consumption - my petrol Prado is in the 19-20L/100. Id be happy with 14L with a V8.
All the negative comments must be from people who aren’t quite in a position to be able to own one because they’re absolutely a awesome all round package no car is perfect but it is an unbelievable good base to start with
Great review. Thank you.
Only good thing about it is the engine & drive train.
Leave the figures on the screen for longer (at the start - Price, Power etc)
What a beast
New one is coming next year from what I hear
I LOVE IT! LOVE IT! ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕
I'm not saying it's old, but the Y62 was released in the same year as Instagram.
With some of the great diesels available why go for a V8 PETROL?
I want to see a diesel V8 twin scroll vgt turbo coupled with dual electric motors in a big 4wd station wagon or Ute and make it a total beast!
Hoping this unit will be available here in the Philippines.
The quick fix car play head unit is crap and there are heaps of problems.
Also dropped 360cameras etc.
Nothing works with the finesse of the old version.
Wrong with 95 octane - needs 98 to run at its best and most economical.
You know nothing about such vehicles if you think fuel economy or size of tank is a negative.
I love my 2021 patrol.
Good feedback. Also, I believe that the TPMS system doesn’t work as the new HU doesn’t have the app. I love my MY22 Patrol after installing a new SS exhaust and the recent addition of the Harrop Supercharger - the 3T rig destroys hills and overtaking is a breeze. Just buy a Ti and spend the money on these would be my recommendation.
What’s the point of having the navigation screen at the driver’s waist level 😂
Great review
I'll give you the fuel usage: shitloads
Just hoping that If y63 comes out next year, the prices drop a little bit for these beauties. Could be just wishful thinking after all given the ridiculous pricing down under for used cars.
lol😂 their price will not go down. thats for sure
Recall, these were super expensive in 2013, Nissan had a significant price drop attempting to regain sales.
From that moment on, features have fallen away & price has gone up but still far cheaper than 2013 release.
Hope they learnt a lesson and don't overprice Y63 on release.
Nissan as a brand is dead in Australia.
So sad such great cars from the 1990’s
Coming to a small town in Australia near you. Great motors but they feel as heavy as they look and that touchscreen surround looks like it was the worlds biggest afterthought and printed on a home brand 3d printer.
thats why they are selling so many
@@Vlad88822 I didn’t say I didn’t like them, but let’s be clear other than the drivetrain this thing is aged out.
No phone connectivity? That makes it so weird.
No 360 deg camera display? A vehicle this big should come equipped with such a safety feature.
With so many influx of Chinese SUV, how is the Tank 500 compared to this which is 30% cheaper ?
no name speaker system ? so it had bose to a cheap brand to save money ?
The Warrior is based on the Ti Patrol so it uses the stock standard six-speaker setup which is Nissan generic. The more expensive Ti-L spec Patrol has the Bose sound system.
$3k extra for a $1200 afftermarket solution already being fitted to Y62 for 15 years. I bet they made more brackets for the Nissan bracket company too.
Somebody please inform Nissan its 2024
lol the interior makes an old Subaru of the 80s look modern 😂 what a joke.
Google maps?
Nizmo interior still looks better
4 independent wheel lifting axles, yep just another city car. Forget tough tracks, but will cope with the beach okay. Chasing cars has no idea .
Lifting wheels yes, but with its superior traction control lifting wheels has zero negatively, your obviously confusing this with the 76 series wheel lifting negatives, yes they are greatly impacted by wheel lift, ha!
@@ianweal3081 “Lifting wheels has zero negativity” Lol, are you for real? It is all about keeping your tires on the ground, traction control or even lockers do not fully compensate for wheels on the ground. The 70 series is hopeless in this regard, not sure how the new patrol goes in relation. There is also the aspect of stability of the vehicle, vehicles with bad flex become unstable on tough tracks, and are more prone to roll over. Flex is king, the new patrol doesn’t have it. BTW, am not a 70 series owner, though my latest vehicle has both good flex, lockers and is new. My previous vehicle had good flex and traction control. Independent suspension is designed for highways.
@@davidkelly3779 the traction control in this vehicle is superior to previous, hence lifting wheels whilst not good doesn't negate forward travel as it did in the past.
Yes, flex is king, but bugger all new vehicles offer it, it's all about on road stability as you correctly point out BUT the Patrol delivers both, stability on road plus ability off road even with wheels lifted. When the Y62 was initially released reviewers bagged it out, they're all loving it's superior off road credentials now.
I'm presuming you've got a Jeep to be new & flex, and they're admirable for sure, but Patrol far more practical as day to day drive and off road tourer in my humble opinion.
To clarify wheel lift and brilliant traction control look no further than Land Rover Products, the defender is a stand out, more capable than previous yet so stable on road.
I'm a Y61 owner, purchased the very last production run to have solid axles & diesel as I simply couldn't come at the independent setup & petrol, but now I'd jump straight into a warrior, zero worries of capabilities on or off road. Time swayed me.
Total rip-off !!
Yeh, I agree the LC300 is ridiculously over-priced!
Heavy and overpriced. But the V8 will sell this
haha...not for broke people. and its better built than the new 300 series.
That interior is painful to look at
How do you figure that, it's so bloody luxurious compared to opposition, well maybe defender could be better.
Drive it before you criticise it.
Well I figured that out by looking at it, that is why I said “to look at “
It might be good, luxurious materials but man that design is now old.
@@nmvi226 I just don't get your prospective, yes it may be dated but so bloody luxurious in comparison to all, maybe a defender tops it.
I certainly could look at it all day and still admire it, you do realise we talking about the Warrior interior, fake wood deleted, right.
The fake wood almost works with the tan upholstery, but I'd agree not good with black.
Again, I'd love with it for the luxurious finish and awesome drive.
Have you checked out the interior update they did for left hand drive patrols, USA spec or Dubai? To me that update would have modernized this car very well and why Nissan never offered it to right hand cars I don’t understand even if it’s just the center stack I personally prefer that one to this.
