    One of the best things about your channel is not only the amazing scenery but the little history lessons thrown in! Very interesting to hear these things. 😃

    Thank you for emphasising the difference between gebeki and genbeki. I would be that's person who mixed them up otherwise. Great video as always

    What a lovely river that is! One can’t help but wonder if it might be home to Japan’s iwana char or the yamame trout (tenkara anglers wonder about such things).

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't know about that river in particular for fishing, but there are tons of mountain streams around here where people do fish for iwana char and yamame trout! Lots of tenkara enthusiasts up here!

    Love this video! Hiking up Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina soon and I’ve been watching all your hiking videos. Mt. M is very close in height to Mt. Iwate.

    That gorge looks a bit like Marmorslottet, the 'marble castle' along a river in northern Norway (which I also only know from the internet). I'd like to visit both of these sights as well as this Hiraizumi you keep mentioning! I've heard of that before but I don't remember what's there 😬

      Good looking temples, onsens rivers & waterfalls, highly significant historical locations, architectural landmarks... If Google didn't make them invisible most of the time I'd have to switch them off manually, as you wouldn't be able to see anything... 😅

    I hit both Hiraizumi and Genbikei on my 2019 trip to Japan but my primary goal was to see Sekinoichi Brewing/Iwatekura Beer and visit the owner who I met when he was in Portland. I would recommend all three. I'm sorry to have missed the temple, but it looks like it might require a car to get to it.

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, you'd need a car or to use the bus. And beer travel is great, nice!

      The current is actually pretty fast in the river and probably you're not allowed... but I do see the temptation to jump in!
