- Knowing how to sit with your cello is SO important for cellists of all experience levels! This video is geared more for beginner cellists, but I am glad to share my ideas about cello posture with everyone and it never hurts to review! I have been playing cello for over half my lifetime, and I still have to constantly be self-aware of my posture to ensure I can play my best!

Amazing.... Perfect and concise
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Finally someone I can watch and not get bored! Please keep them videos coming! 🙋🏽♂️😍
Haha YAS that means so much to me because I try to be an engaged and entertaining teacher...even if I'm talking to a web cam 🤣! Be sure to check out my channel's playlist for cello help and mini lessons, called "Tips & Tricks!"
Thanks! Getting my first cello after 30 years! Great reminders!
Thank you for this video. It was educational and entertaining with the quirky cuts and what not. I just got my cello in 3 days ago and I have NO idea what I'm doing, but I'm determined to figure this out. I've come to understand that I have to get the basics down first to really master playing the cello. I didn't know how to hold the cello correctly at all and this video helped greatly!
so it goes without saying that the ideal chair height from the ground to the top of the seat should be determined by the measurement from the ground to the back of the knee? assuming one is keeping 90° between the calf and the back of the leg
Thank you. Very helpful. I've had my instrument for a week now and am quite excited to practice and improve. Thank you.
You're most welcome Ron! I'm so glad you found this video helpful and I hope your first few months of cello playing have been exciting & insightful!

Thank you it made it very helpful. I was saying this has to be comfortable to hold and play
Hey! Super excited for more instructional cello content on CZcams. Feedback wise I would say, it seems like you're constantly raising/straining your voice. Content wise, I think as someone who is still a beginner, things you didn't touch on but people sometimes find difficult are arm posture, like... too much/not enough chicken arm etc haha.
Thanks for the feedback Daniel! I get sooooo excited when I teach that it's likely I raise my voice 🤣! This vlog I also had to edit the audio (there was this annoying room *hum*) so that could also effect how my voice came across. Also, there are sooooo many more tip videos to come so don't you worry! I prefer to do specific ones that are shorter than 10+min videos (fun fact, these are usually 15-20min long before I edit them 🤣)! Again thank you for the feedback and for watching, glad to hear you're excited! 👌🏻🎻
A friend just brought me a cello to play! I have played a variety of other instruments, so can't wait to get started! This was an awesome video! Thank you! Going to look for more of your videos Cello Doll!!
You're most welcome & I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and are about to start your cello-learning journey! Would love to hear more about the other types of instruments you play and welcome to the Doll Community! 😊
Thanks Doll! 🦋
Wow, thank you so much. Your explanation is very clear.
You're most welcome & I am glad it was helpful!
I've been looking something like this ..thank you.
You're most welcome and I'm glad you found this useful! Cello playing posture is SO important! 🎻
Great Video!
really useful thank you!
Glad it was helpful! 👌🏻🎻
thanks
Well, you are just amazing! May I ask...at what angle should the cello be tilted/leaned? I have heard 45-degrees but have seen some with more or less of an angle.
Thanks so much for your kind words & great question! It actually depends more on a person's height, rather than legs (also meaning that there isn't one "universal angle" that works for everyone). Taller players tend to have the cello more vertically and at a narrower angle, while shorter tend to have the cello flatter. Again, there are probably some expectations, so experimenting with different possibilities is best.
Jajajaj. I love have you called your instrument celli and that it had to go. I thought that was cute. Those exercises seem very helpful I must try them myself.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment Raquel! I hope you find this set-up video helpful!
ur my fucking hero
Can you help me? Im tall and when i do the cello position, the arm of the cello doesnt rest on my shoulder, what should i do?
If making the endpin longer doesn't work, you can always adjust the angle of the cello by pulling it in closer to you (so that the body is more vertical when it lays against your chest).
Awesome! Keep it up! Would you like to be CZcams friends? :]
Soooo wrong
