When he was Imperfect, Cell was very pragmatic and all about survival and sneaky tactics to gain an advantage or to retreat and regroup. Because that is the form he's most vulnerable in, especially before he absorbs a large quantity of human biomass; if you think about it, when Imperfect Cell first shows up, before he gets to Ginger Town, he's actually *weaker* than 17. So if he went after them directly, he would get bodied. That's the Namekian/Piccolo DNA shining through and coming into play with the proper merging with 17 and 18 akin to Namekian fusion. But as the Androids unlocked his genetic code further, in the form of actual physiological changes, that's fittingly where the Saiyan and especially the Frieza genes kicked into gear - fitting because they (Frieza in particular) are the ones that have dramatic form changes to unlock wells of power. So Semi-Perfect is a mixture of opportunistic trickery and self-preservation with arrogance and self-assurance, while Perfect Cell is basically entirely Frieza God complex with Saiyan battle fever, with the remaining hint of self-preservation being moreso the Frieza kind of "fuck this and you too" blow it up type. Though the Namekian genes still show up a bit in Perfect with a trait fittingly seen in Elder/Super Namekians - spawning powerful creations from their body. He just skips the egg and it comes out the other end.
I swear, Future Trunks absolutely decimating the Androids in his timeline might be THE most cathartic beatdown of the series when you think about everything Trunks has been through. If the Z-fighters should've taken anything from Future Trunks, it's throw hands first, have a dialogue later. Great job since first finding your work with the Saiyan Saga, looking forward to the Buu Saga!

I kinda wish you would've mentioned Gohan powering back up before Vegeta freaked out, how he mentioned he was happy Cell was back so he could kill him with his own hands, it's such a badass moment for him. And also Goku telling Gohan that, even in that injured state, he was the strongest person in the entire universe (at this point in the series) But still, Gohan walking towards Cell with the Kamehameha is the most iconic part of the show to me, hands down. It's a peak anime moment that nothing comes close to, especially with the Faulconer track, but the Japanese music is great there too. It truly feels like Dragon Ball should've ended here because Toriyama was a total loose cannon who had no idea what he was writing in the Buu saga
@@LJAndrews1986 The Piccolo Daimao arc is my 2nd favorite to the Cell Saga, 3rd would definitely be the battle with Vegeta. I only would rank Frieza as lower because Namek feels like it takes an eternity and it also seemed relatively predictable that Goku was going to win in the end.
Honestly i describe the Buu arc as Toriyama's "Victory Lap" I mean the editors just told him to make more dbz content and he just obliged and you can tell he had full reign. All the Toriyama-isms in full effect for the buu saga
When all is said and done, Goku will always be Gohan’s father. Gohan never once hated his dad for all of his faults. Some see it as a weakness, I see it as a strength. Don’t misunderstand, Piccolo is one of my favorites, his relationship with Gohan is key to his development and Piccolo had every right to call out Goku for his fumble here. But again, no one is perfect. This entire arc has been nothing but fumbles after fumbles. True, there were plenty in the past, but this arc and the next in particular is egregious. But I feel like the this arc in particular (as you said before with Future Trunks), goes into the consequences of our actions. We see how Trunks (despite his best efforts) actually brought Cell into the present timeline, and how his time travel would cause the Zamasu arc and the eventual demise of his timeline, Goku fighting the Red Ribbon Army led to this arc and FighterZ and Super Hero, and this is all WITHOUT counting the many other fumbles involved. So yeah. With all of that being said, this final beam struggle with Gohan and Cell is one for the ages. It really sets up all of the emotions needed to make this attack count. If there is one thing I love Dragon Ball for, is that their arcs (for the most part) end on a high note. This is no exception.

I think Piccolo is more of an older brother to Gohan. Especially with all the tough love he gives him. Piccolo is pan's Uncle According to Videl. Also they're pretty close in age.
I love how these are released weekly, like we're all gathering around the TV for the newest episode. And I love how it caps off with "Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z" just gets me excited for the next installment even though I already know what's happening next

You describe the sequence of events but do it in your own style, whereas a lot of other people just stick to presenting the story with little to no embellishment or adlibbing. It's those extra little bits that make these videos unique and funny as hell, and I hope this continues for the rest of Z, the movies, OG Dragon Ball, Super, and I'll even watch the breakdowns for GT if that show is your thing. I know it was anime only, but I really liked how everybody chipped in to try to weaken Cell during the beam struggle. They were worthless as always, but it's the thought that counts. Kinda disappointed you skipped over it.
One filler that I really like was how each of the Z fighters attack Cell during the beam struggle. In this, they reminisce on their memories of Goku, what he meant to them, and how they’ll keep his memory alive. It’s a nice touch and helps solidify the finality of Goku’s sacrifice. In 2001, we didn’t know Goku was going to come back in the next arc lol

MAN LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING! Krillin got on my last nerve during this final section against Super Perfect Cell: 1. Scolding Vegeta for rushing in like that against Cell which did nothing but lead to Gohan getting hit resulting in their only key to victory being lost. 2. Throwing shade at Piccolo when he was the first one to attack Cell during the beam struggle against Gohan. First of all, Vegeta was reckless (TBH bro should've went SS2 in that moment) but for once he did it for someone other than himself! His son (from another timeline) died right in front of his eyes! Vegeta was selfless for probably the first time in his life! You allowed 18 to survive by crushing the controller because your little bald head (not the one on his shoulders) was still tweaking from that kiss on the cheek. Also, Piccolo jumped in first followed by Tien and even Yamcha. Yes, can you believe YAMCHA of all people in that moment proved to have more balls than Krillin?! Bro should've just retired after the Cell Saga because they didn't need him anymore. Dude fumbled the ball with the controller just like Star-Lord did against Thanos in Infinity War.

Man.. you skipped over my favorite part of the DBZ Anime. I swear I get choked up every time I watch the Cell vs Gohan Kamehameha battle and the Z Fighters all rush in to help Gohan. Cell keeps swatting them away but they keep getting up while giving inner monologues about how Goku is their hero and they're not going to stand by and watch his son die without putting up a fight. Damn that always hits so hard.

Vegeta was selfless for probably the first time in his life! You allowed 18 to survive by crushing the controller because your little bald head (not the one on his shoulders) was still tweaking from that kiss on the cheek.
Also, Piccolo jumped in first followed by Tien and even Yamcha. Yes, can you believe YAMCHA of all people in that moment proved to have more balls than Krillin?!
Bro should've just retired after the Cell Saga because they didn't need him anymore. Dude fumbled the ball with the controller just like Star-Lord did against Thanos in Infinity War.

Man.. you skipped over my favorite part of the DBZ Anime. I swear I get choked up every time I watch the Cell vs Gohan Kamehameha battle and the Z Fighters all rush in to help Gohan. Cell keeps swatting them away but they keep getting up while giving inner monologues about how Goku is their hero and they're not going to stand by and watch his son die without putting up a fight. Damn that always hits so hard.
The roasting was absolutely next level, disrespectful, and warranted.

Can we take a minute to admire how Trunks is a gentleman? The guy get cooked left and right by stupid ass decisions from his teammates but never roast they, even if they deserve.
The end of the cell arc is very emotional, too bad all the caracter development of the Z warriors is going to be ignored in the next saga
It’s crazy how trunk is the only person who did not fumble the bag. He would have killed cell if it wasn’t for Vegeta. He was the only one who had the power to kill cell that would have finished him instantly. Vegeta, piccolo, gohan, goku, and krillin all contributed to cell not dying when he should have

Your work is gold, and I'm always waiting for these drops every Sunday even though I don't always say it. I'm still sad you didn't show the bit where all the Z-warriors try to do something when Gohan is beam battling with Cell. It is one of my favorite moments in the arc. They all know they ain't doing anything at all, but they've let all pretense of the Goku/Vegeta era of fighting where they're all honor bound to just sit by while their betters 1v1.
