  • In this video you will see a fabulous Christmas Wroclaw. At the link above you can find out what places you should definitely visit in this city.
    In this video there will not be any dry numbers and facts about this city. Only the most interesting things. The second largest market in Poland is located in Wroclaw. It is one of the largest Old Town markets in Europe.

    The weather on this December day was overcast and cool. But we were lucky that it didn't rain, which is rare for Poland. So we decided to take a walk on the beautiful Polish islands. These are the Slodowski Pedestrian Bridge and the island with a view of Wroclaw University.
    In the streets you can find figures of gnomes. There are more than 120 of them in the city, but the number is growing all the time. And it all started in 2001.
    Wroclaw has the fourth largest number of bridges in Europe. After all, not only the river Odra flows through the city, but also many smaller rivers. Only Venice, Amsterdam and St. Petersburg have more water crossings.
    Tumski island is the oldest part of Wroclaw. Numerous monuments, churches, charming nooks and crannies and romantic Tumski Bridge (Lovers' Bridge). And it is here that there is a unique job - the keeper of Wroclaw Lighthouse. His job is to light and then extinguish about a hundred gas lanterns, which create a unique atmosphere of the Tumski island. This tradition in Wroclaw goes back to 1847.
    Right in the covered market we decided to have a bite to eat. There isn't a restaurant, but it's available from the morning and you can try Polish cuisine. Zhurek is a meat sour soup seasoned with flour-based sourdough, to which is usually added white sausage, smoked meat and a boiled egg. Tomato (tomato soup). Most often made from broth, tomato paste and cream, and optionally adding vermicelli or boiled rice. Pancakes with cottage cheese is a very popular dish among Slavic peoples, and my favorite.
    The Christmas Fair in Wroclaw, as in all of Europe, is a unique and colorful event. The fabulous decorations of the Market Square, original Christmas dishes and drinks, as well as many other attractions attract thousands of visitors to Wroclaw.
    The usual Christmas market takes place from late November to the end of January. This time, the Wroclaw Christmas market was held for the 14th time. At this time, the market square of the city becomes the scene of a fairy tale landscape. Among the forest-smelling Christmas trees, scents of mulled wine and chocolate cakes, visitors are treated to rides and surprises.
    What can you buy at the fair? Lots of things! Original regional products: cheese from Italy and the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Turkish baklava and halva, dishes from Germany, sausages, mountain cheese Oszepek, liquors, wines, chocolates, gingerbread, cakes, honey;
    handicrafts: jewelry, ceramics, stained-glass windows, tableware, wool products;
    eco-products: oils, coffee, Himalayan salt products and natural cosmetics;
    delicious food: waffles, grilled dishes, noodles, bigos, bread with bacon, borscht, sour rye soup, pancakes, crayfish.
    It's certainly worth visiting the Christmas market with the whole family. The Market Square is full of attractions for children:
    - Fairytale Forest , where you can listen to popular fairy tales;
    - Christmas Mill,
    - Rudolph and Friends Carousel, and more.
    I was won over by the magical fairy tale house that serves mulled wine and hot food. It has a clock tower and a terrace with a panoramic view of Market Square and the fair. Inside the lodge, you can warm up with the warmth of the fireplace, drink hot drinks and enjoy a festive, fairy-tale atmosphere.
    During the Wroclaw Christmas Fair, mulled wine is served in ceramic cups shaped like boots. Regular visitors to the Wroclaw fair collect the cups.
    This year, because of the pandemic, the program of the Christmas Fair in Wroclaw did not include the Elf Parade, the carolers' procession as well as concerts and workshops.
    The Wroclaw Fair is definitely worth a visit to get in the Christmas and New Year's mood. After all, the Magic of Christmas fascinates everyone. Happy New Year 2022!
