    I was literally crying cause I’ve been practicing for 2 months for a Seven nation army solo audition and I couldn’t even get to a low b thank you so much

    for a tuba player switching to a bari sax. This really, really helped. I kept trying to play songs with low notes and i could not start the note without a highnote starting it

      I just switched from alto to bari and I've been having this same problem. I'm getting more used to the embouchure shift and air amount.

      I have the opposite situation. I can play high on tuba, however can't get low notes for the life of me 😂😂

    I’m switching to bari sax for a marching band show after playing alto for six years, and this really helped!!! I found that “popping” as you said in the video is super helpful for my piano low b flat entrances

    WOW - I could have used your video 50 yrs ago...i use to dread the song 'Antares' because of the low (b flat?) note i would choke on, and it was 50-50 that i would play it an octave higher...hahahhah thank you...once my neck strap broke in the middle of a marching band half time show!

    I love how you played the note in your head before playing it on the mouthpiece. We are our own tuners.

    just something i noticed at 1:30, the notes you played are concert F and F#, for bari sax they’re written as D and Eb

    I decided to switch to Bari Sax from Bass Guitar in my Jazz band and this helped me control my low Bb from being all over the place.

    Popping the note! This is a game changer! W this little trick i can play all my low notes legato! Thanks so much!!! Open q: by just popping these low notes and not playing from a fully closed position, am i not developing my breath control and embouchure as well as i otherwise could? Does it matter? Thanks again!

    I can easily get my low a to speak, but my b and b flat are a bit sketchy. The thing is I just had it checked out. I'm using a new mouthpiece though, and am still adjusting to it.

    I've been playing for 30 years, but am pretty new to bari, but I'm used to playing on Nexus reeds on Tenor and alto, with very good effortless response on low notes, but they unfortunately don't make them for bari. I need to figure out my reed situation.

    what type of saxophone is that

    The reason why the "popping" works is because for a split second, you are on a g note and its practically slurring from a g to a d really fast

    • @robert19
      @robert19 Před měsícem

      yes. very similar to 'flicking' technique used on bassoons.
