    The sounds and stuff shaking and falling off in the videos from Sparta, Manville, and Middlesex has become common now in Oklahoma in the last 5 or so years where I live. The last one that we had like that was a few months ago. We thought it was going to separate our chimney from our house and knocked everything off of the hearth and broke lots of glass falling from the hearth. Good time to remember that they are measure by orders of magnitude.
      This was a 4.8, the 7.4 that happened yesterday in Taiwan isn’t ~50% more powerful, it’s hundreds of times more powerful. From 4 to 5 is 10 times more powerful, from 4 to 7 is 1000 times more powerful.
      Kudos to JKent9915 from Lyndafayesmusic@Yahoo
      Exactly-and the Taiwanese speak better English too.

    You haven’t had much of a earthquake going by the videos. All earthquakes aren’t the same even if they have the same magnitude. Some are really sharp and have snap and others are more of a rolling sensation. It’s a good one when the bottles aren’t tinkling but are flying off the shelf and breaking.

      @geneticepistomology lol, hey I grew up on the East Coast, but was there long enough to get that. I was taking a shower during the first earthquake I felt in LA. It rolled in from the East and knocked some books off my shelves. I thought someone had broken into my apartment before my shower stall became a fun house ride. Remember that old commercial where the guy in the shower sniffs the soap and then suddenly he is on a waterslide? I just looked it up. It was a soap called Zest, that got you Zestfully clean. Good times...

      @geneticepistomology Před 2 měsíci

      @@seaninness334 I remember that commercial ). We don’t get many earthquakes here but because of the geology, they travel quite far. Most people are not familiar with what can happen at New Madrid. Apparently the last time it occurred, it was felt through the Carolinas.
