  • A little bit of free-grooming on one of our intermediate slopes after a day of snowfall. I was expecting the climbing to be difficult but was pleasantly surprised.

    Have always wanted to learn this skill did a little bit when I was back in high school on an Old Pistenbully 200 I use to help groom the Cross Country trails. Would love to get back into it though. There is just something so cool about using a state-of-the-art piece of machinery like that and being able to do what you do with it and make it look great!!! That resort is lucky to have such great operators like yourself. Stay safe Sir Cheers

      For me I’d say it’s all down to the machine, I’m a very average operator. I have worked with some artists over the years though.

    Another great video. I’m surprised how foggy it is especially since it looks cold by the way the snow is behaving. I also found it interesting that the slope lights are yellow/orange. I assume they are high pressure sodium. In the US they generally use a whiter light. A quick question, do you use a hand throttle to maintain a constant rpm or a foot throttle like a car? Lastly it’d be fun to know what time it is and the temperature that the video takes place. Sort of sets the mood. 😂 Thanks again for the great job!

      It was a weird low cloud after the snowstorm, but from memory it was still cold, maybe -8 or so. They love different coloured lights here, we have two lift lines with multi-coloured lights that alternate all night. It’s a foot throttle in the Pistenbully, so that’s just me using my foot to hold the rpm’s.

      Psychedelic lights, love it. Keeps things fun on those long winter days. Thanks for the reply.

    Hey! I run a brand new 600 (identical to yours but no winch) on a xc stadium. trying to get to know the machine on different conditions. Is there any chance u would talk about tiller settings on different conditions in a future video? =)

    • @pushnpow
      @pushnpow  Před 2 lety +2

      I could try. I find they’re always different, especially between the winch and the free-cat (we have both and the tiller seems to handle very differently). But I can try and give you some basic settings anyway.

      @@pushnpow Would be amazing! We went from an older bison to a new pb600 this year. The upgrade is amazing :D We struggle with the tiller wanting to dig itself up and "jumping" on the hard packed manmade snow. Reducing tiller speed the other day seemed to help. but we are kinda puzzled about whats correct.

      @@martinwegener5508 the 600 has a much better tiller in my opinion, it has much more adjustment than the bisons. Depending on your snow conditions you don’t need much cut, I very rarely go above 50 on cut, usually I have it at 35-40. Speed usually around 80-100 (faster with wetter snow, 80 when the conditions are good, faster when it’s icy) I also use full down pressure to pack the snow down as much as possible. The snow chamber also has a lot of effect on your finish. If it’s too far open you’ll leave holes and chunks of snow behind. I’d usually have that around 30-50, the only time the chamber needs to be opened further is in really wet snow.
      I’m by no means the most knowledgeable guy or think I know it all though, this is purely what works for me. If you do have real issues then call your Pistenbully service rep, they’re generally pretty helpful (in my experience 😅)

      @@pushnpow Very helpful. I think we have been to conservative with down pressure. And the snow chamber aswell! Result today was exceptional =)

    I enjoy the idea of your videos but please static mount that camera or get a 360 that won’t show every centimeter of your head movement. Makes for a dizzying experience.

      @pushnpow  Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah the beginning is bad on this video, the rest isn’t too bad. These are older videos I’m still releasing, but I’m starting to video with a static mount this week so it won’t be an issue in the future 👍
      I think I’ve got one more first-person video waiting to be released then anything newer will be fixed camera. Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it!

      @@pushnpow welp that’s sad, I kinda dont like the newer videos, too long back, feels more like every other CZcams who does this content and not like this video,
      The first views are generally more movement, but it’s not so bad.
