Off the coast of North Carolina, there’s an abandoned Platform that’s actually a lighthouse that looks like a deserted rig; now it’s a hotel. Well, hotel might be a bit of a stretch. It’s more like a really run down youth hostel on a really rusty platform surrounded by water and sharks. Don’t worry. It’s probably too expensive for most of us. A rule to remember: if somebody falls into the water, do not jump after them. Throw them one of the life vests. Hope they grab one before a shark eats them. Oh, and you have to sign a liability waiver.
    Ahoi ‍☠️
Somewhere south of Shanghai, China: an Austrian Village. Yes, the Chinese copied the Austrian village of Hallstatt. Down to the tiniest details. It's crazy. Why? No idea. Because they could. Oh, and I think it’s supposed to attract buyers for the 3000 home development project. Kinda weird, kinda mysterious as to the why would you do that? It remains a mystery.
On the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten, there are awesome beaches; white sand, turquoise water. You know, what many of us label paradise. There’s this one beach that has an odd mixture of paradise and planes. The approach to the airport takes planes literally a few feet over peoples’ heads. Watch. It’s pretty cool.
You may have seen our deadliest roads doc on Benin. We’re back in the Central African country, in the port of Cotonou. A Japanese cargo ship with used German cars. 1893 units to offload in 12 hours. Logistics, coordination between the drivers, the dock workers, the ships crew, the handlers. A choreography of cars and drivers quite awesome to behold. Destination: the used car lot where wrecks get a new lease on life in Benin.
Siberia. Mirny. Cold. Population 40,000. Main source of income: diamonds. It’s all about the diamonds. The mystery of mining ⛏. It really is hard to imagine how lots of rocks end up being worth millions.
Enjoy our latest episode of Mystery Places. Have a good weekend! Sit in a cafe, have a coffee. Watch people. Or have some mango 🥭 ice cream.

I agree to an extent. Some people make college their career... That's not ok. It shouldn't cost as much to further your education, as it does. I feel it should cost something though. Nothing comes easy, or free. If you choose a career that requires 10 years of education, taxpayers shouldnt foot the whole bill. Lower costs, and things will improve. Imo. I do agree everyone is entitled to an education but, it isnt a right. Again imo.

Hardness does not mean that it can’t break, those are two different things. For example, you can’t scratch a glass window with a normal knife, but throw some glass on the floor and it shatters into a million pieces. And you can easily scratch gold, but it won’t break when you drop it.

I have 24 yrs plus underground mining experience using many different types equipment . The diamond mine in Mirny Russia is the cleanest mine I've ever seen underground. Super work ethics and awesome safety standards. Also 1.2km verticals that deep compared to mines in Africa and Australia. Africa some mines are as deep as 5km vertical below the surface , in Australia there are nickel mines as deep as 2km vertical which I've worked in here in Australia. Diamonds are just another rock like gold , nickel , silver etc , you get used to seeing it and many people outside mining just don't understand that. Great documentary though but working underground is many cases safer than trying to cross the road at designated crossings.

@@FreeDocumentary Thanks for info, I was born in Russia in 1976 and it's interesting how I never heard of this mine 🤔 Maybe Russians kept it quiet on purpose.

How strong are the underwater steel structures or are they also being rotten away? Can this structure withstand a big storm with
a lot of people on it and have the owner lifeboats to get of the structure in case of an emergence?
