I don't know if I necessarily agree with everything you said, but the bottom line is you know what you know (and you know it well obviously) and you feel it's the most valuable for your kids. You're doing what you think is right as a father and I think what you're teaching your kids by sailing the world and running a youtube channel is invaluable for child development. Well done sir.

There are many paths to success - but they all start with humbleness, hard work, patience and grit. I am not an entrepreneur- but I am an amazing employee who can take the concept to success. Keith as we have all witnessed has strengths in figuring stuff out - some of the things he can watch a video for and then go do - wouldn’t work for me but I have my own skills of things that may be easier for me than most people...

I had straight A's in school. I took every math and science class there was available to me. I was planning university education but couldn't afford it. Turns out- that wasn't a bad thing. I missed out on 5 years of student loans and instead earned a living for those years. That put me 10 years ahead of my friends who came out of university and ended up working next to me in some cases because the couldn't get work in their chosen field. So, yeah Keith. Teach your kids to work hard and to look for the opportunities. Be flexible! Your boys have talent. That's clear. Anna is already taking charge. Kate is going to be another star.

I know exactly what Keith means. My brother went to college got his bachelors and masters. I joined the Army right out of high school, over time became a warrant officer and got involved in Risk Management. Without spending $1 on “higher education” I easily make upwards of 5 times my brothers annual income. In fact I subsidize him with a annual housing allowance so he doesn’t have to live paycheck to paycheck. Keep doing what you do Keith

Now I am taking those skills and putting them to work for me in a business that will continue to pay me as I take to the water on a sailboat. Grades don’t necessarily show that you know what you need to, only that you can jump through someone else hoops the way they want you to. Grades also don’t determine your character, work ethic or even how smart you really are and in most cases, your grades only matter in school. After that when you graduate, they don’t matter. Your job isn’t going to care what you got for a GPA, only that you got your degree and anyone can do so by doing the bare minimum to graduate if they wanted to.

@@philbox4566 Hi Phil I wanted to sincerely thank you very much for responding! Your answer helps a lot, as it adds affirmation to my belief that property has very real potential as a vehicle to building a foundation of wealth. I don't by any means view it as an easy way to get rich (I think that mentality is a total pipe dream), but as being something I can legitimately understand and something I can get my foot in the door of.
Your mention of the trades also is very relevant to me, and I wondered if you might entertain another question? For context, I actually originally wanted to build the base of funds necessary to get into property by way of the trades. However I am somewhat restricted in what I can do physically because of heart valve issues which have so far required three open heart surgeries to correct (I'm 33 if it matters). This limits my ability to do physical labor, but not entirely.
My question is, given your experience in such trades, do you believe one with limits on physical exertion can still prosper in traditional trade labors, so long as he aspires for excellence in his work? I have doubted myself due to these limitations, hence the question.
Again, thank you for your time!

I also grew up in the gun business so I also ran a gun store for the last several years before retirement. Now my grown daughters work for themselves (3 of 4). I must say your comment about education and working hits home with me. I'm 35 yrs old never went to college and when I was 20 found a utility job that was safe with good pay but I didn't enjoy the work or people as most were miserable. After 13 years of the same repetition I decided I wanted to be my own boss and make my own schedule and future. Two years ago I opened a home inspection company and couldn't have been happier with my decision. Of course there's ups and downs starting any business but it takes guts to take the "different" path then what we've all be taught. I commend you and your wife for trying to instill that in your children. Best of luck moving forward and safe travels!

Hey Kieth, Father to Father, I have three daughters and all graduated with the degrees of their choice from Prominent University’s. I have often wondered if that was the right decision but only one of the three is working in the field of study she was interested in. Then you factor in the cost of their education and even worse, the influence of a lot of professors that couldn’t last a day in the real world. I’m a firm believe that people that can do and many people that can’t go into teaching! (If you’re a teacher, don’t get pissed off, 10-20% of you are excellent and this wouldn’t apply to you). Anyway, always enjoy your take on life, sailing and most of all family. Wishing you continued safe and happy adventures with your family and friends!

Keith, especially love your sense of humour and the way you see the world (yes I'm an Aussie and that is the correct way to spell humour :-) ). Cheers from Down Under.

Hi from California, Sailing Zatara I must say has been one of my favorite CZcams channels to date. I happened across your channel a few weeks ago and have been Binge watching every day and now I’m caught up. What an amazing Journey and wild adventure on the open seas and all the freedom to go wherever you desire. I bet you and your family have learned so much and seen so much in the last four years. I must say your kids are really lucky to have such great parents and to teach them what real living is like in different parts of the world. I bet your kids have learned so much more in the last four years rather than going to a regular public school and my hats off to both of you. The memories you are making now will last a lifetime and will have a lasting impact👍🏻👍🏻. Definitely looking forward to your next sailing VLOG👍🏻🇺🇸❤️

Absolutely agree. Education is just one of many paths, you don’t have to take it if it’s not right for you. You need to choose what path YOU want to take. Find your passion and become obsessed with it enough to want and know how to seek out opportunities to live your dreams
