Hey Sam.. I have a Trane XR 90 that was not starting up. it was giving me 3 blinking lights, which indicated a Pressure Sensor issue, like u mentioned in the video. I followed your instructions and pulled of the tube and blew into it. I also cleaned the location where the hose comes out of the switch into the main unit. I tried turning on the furnace again and BINGO it started working. The burners came on and heat was getting pushed out. Thanks for saving me a service call and $$$$$.

Hey Sam. I got up this morning, Christmas, and the house was 50°.climbed up in the attic and started taking the furnace door off. Noticed the three flash error code. Look that up and found out about the draft pressure switch. Your video showed me where it was and I fixed it with a drinking straw. The technician was on his way after a long long day. He was impressed that I got up there and fixed it. He said he doubted we'd have any more trouble with it. He said something as small as a piece of cobweb could cause the blockage and the switches very rarely go out. Thanks much.

Echoing what the others here have said. Pulled the tube, blew/sucked on the tube, blew/sucked on the port, connected back up. WORKS. I'll note, most of the particulates I cleared came from the port going behind the fan wall. Not much came out of the tube connected to the sensor. Thank you sir.

@@MrFixIt-jl2xc What kind of crap are you trying to spread or spew with this baloney about the Trane XR 90 pressure switch? Sucking or blowing in the tube does absolutely nothing the only fix is to run with the tube disconnected from the pressure switch which clears the 3 flash error code and then it might run a year or so and then bust completely forever and them buy a new furnace that isn't Trane and throw the old furnace into the nearest lake. Trane furnaces are the worst furnace ever made.😁

I has a three blink error message on my Trane XV80 furnace. I tried the things you recommended on my pressure switch. It started up after a brief waiting period. I had battery corrosion in my thermostat that I thought could have effected it’s functioning after 20-years. I installed a new thermostat and reprogrammed it. It will interesting to see if the furnace follows the program and turns off and on normally to the desired temperature settings.

Happened to find a way to fix the problem without having to open the unit. I have a Trane XV80 and experienced three red blinking (unit won't start) problem once in this summer and once in this winter (today).
In summer problem, it refused to turn AC on. On thermostat, I turned Fan from 'auto' to 'on' (Fan 'on/auto/cyclic' switch) while set it to 'off' on thermostat System 'cool/off/heat' switch; the fan started and let it run for some time. Then I turned thermostat System from 'off' to 'coo' and the cool air coming. Then turn Fan from 'on' to 'auto' and it continued working.
In winter (today) case, it refused to turn unit heat on. This time, I tried it again and happened to turn both Fan from 'auto' to 'on' and turn thermostat System to 'heat' at the same time. And the noticed the hot air came later.
After it was fixed, it ran good until it happened again after about six months in my case.
I still don't know what might cause the problem. You may use the following procedures to try your luck:
    - Turn Fan (on/auto/cyclic) from 'auto' to 'on' and System (cool/off/heat) to 'off'. You shall hear the fan started and air flows.
    - Keep it for about 5 to 10 minutes.
    - Turn the System (cool/off/heat)from 'off' to 'cool' or 'heat'.
    - Wait for another 5 to 10 minutes and monitor if the AC or Heat is coming.
    - If not working, repeat this procedure several times. In my case, it took me about three times and then the AC/heat started unexpectedly at some time. I may be able to improve this procedure if it happens again in future.
Share my experience here as it does not require to open the unit. As everyone's problem can be quite different, you may still need to try what "Mr.Fix it" showed in this video or need a technician. Anyway it's good to give it a try as your first step.

One thing I didn't see mentioned is the tubing on my Pressure Switch was getting soft, 15 years old, and had a loose connection to the switch. Replaced the tubing and that was the problem. Available at Big Box Stores usually in 10ft lengths. Cheap fix!

what are you talking about the air filter. the air filter would have nothing to do with the pressure switch.

  • @JasonM35
    @JasonM35 Před 6 lety +2

This video is only half accurate and can be dangerous. Most of the time if a pressure switch is failing there is an underlying cause. You could have a a blockage on the fresh air. You could have water in the collector box that the pressure switch attaches to. The inducer motor could be clogged. You must be very careful here! Bypassing or blowing into a pressure switch can cause damage to the switch! Remember it's a safety switch and your life or your families lives could be at risk. Call a professional and don't risk it!
