Finally made it to Moab! Huge shoutout to John from @sxsoffroad and his crew for being our tour guides. Rock crawling is not something I do very often and the new 2024 Can Am Maverick R made it a little more difficult on me. I was able to get it figured out and had a blast with these guys! Maverick R looks like a beast if you’re mostly into Short Course racing and dunes but kinda crappy everywhere else.
Correction: It looks crappy everywhere else if all you’ve been riding in are dunes and short courses.
Any car can look bad on the rocks when you don’t know what you are doing.

Bad jumping and looks bad in bigger whoops with its lack of bottom out resistance in the rear. Car is over hyped. Which isn’t a surprise if you’re paying attention. The fact not a single person said anything negative at all during the CanAm event was a big red flag.

Takes a little bit to bond with a new machine, hell clutch mods or tire swap will change how a buggy acts, feels and response on slick rock.

Looks like it crawled really well actually. The "traction control" is probably some sort of safety torque limiting feature with the trans when in auto. Definitely good to know it only does it in auto not manual and with tuning its possible it can be fixed.

Glad to see you out there and gettin shit done! I can tell you’re a bit green to the scene but that changes quickly if ya just practice! I learn every time I go out and especially with slickrock, it’s intimidating AF because those rocks defy physics
I think what we learn the most here is driver experience and skill is more important than the car

@@desertsxs I always assumed x3’s wouldn’t rock crawl well with the sudden power that’s hard to feather and poor visibility. Then I found blown budget CZcams channel and what he does with an x3 is crazy
...im not the greatest fan of the mavR- but for a desert racer it crawls really good !!
At least it better than the speed😅 so far pro r is all around better in different terrains not just on a track😅

Rock crawling is what separates the pro r from the rest. Everyone saying the mav r and speed utv are better than the pro r but they forget about rock crawling and they forget thoughs cars cant rock crawl for crap.
This guy behind the wheel on maverick R has no skills at all. He absolutely doesn't know how to ride the car.

Did you watch the video? He said the throttle was cutting because he was nt in manual mode! It s not his fault
He completely admitted that he isn't any good at rock crawling. So yeah, no skills. But he'll have more when he's done than when he started.
