    I started mine from seed (yellow dragonfruit) christmas 2022. Mine started thin like this maybe a little thinner but i cut them up and propagated them and now i have a whole seedling tray of 4 inch pots three times the size of yours! They grow exponentially faster when you cut them ime

    I would love to see a dragon fruit update! I started growing some Megalanthus seeds from a fruit. You're about 4 months ahead of me in growth it seems!

      Give it another go Cathy, they germinate very easy but take a long time to get going. My plant has fruit on it now so in a month's time when it's ready we will take the fruit and germinate some more.

    My seedlings are growing slowly, but finally 7-8" tall, but still a bit thin. How can i gwt them more sturdy? Ive had mine under grow lights too. I started them back in January from seed

      They do grow slow to start with and will need a trellis as it is a climbing plant

    Mine have taken so long to grow too. They are probably smaller cos I have them in a small pot.

      they do take ages to grow at the start, but then speed up very quickly. Small pots will restrict there growth though.

    How long do you think until you'd start seeing fruit - another year or two? Be great to see how the fruit size and taste compares with the one you got the seeds from.

      I imagine so yeah. Yes, it will be super interesting to see if there is much variation in the fruit. We have fruits on our mother plants again so we will plant some more seeds in the near future. It will be interesting to see if different seedlings will perform better in our climate than others.

      Yeah they remain for quite a while and just dry up at some point

    What cultivar did you use?

      When I bought the plants it never said what cultivar they were, I even tried tracking down the supplier but to no avail. the fruit I got last year looks very much to Vietnamese White and the plant it's self looks similar. Take a look at the eating dragon fruit vid I did and tell me what you recon? That's what I took the seed from.

      just a 3x4 inch one I think. But at this point they can really start to grow fast and could be given much more space.

      pot size and amount of light will be a factor yes. They like direct sunlight.

    I have planted like a hundred seeds in a small pot thiking only some of em will grow but all sprouted and now I need to replant them I don't know what to do pls make a video or smth telling how to replant em

      hey Alex, no worries. I have no seedlings growing at the moment so will not be able to make a video. If I was you I would separate them carefully using a fine nose tweezer, the roots will likely be very small and wont take a lot to just re position them in a seed tray.

    Have you grafted seed plant with mature plant cutting if so let me know how much time it takes for fruit

      Nope, I know some that do, but I cant see the point. Normally you graft to a seed grown rootstock.

      Growing from seed takes about 5 years to see fruit. Grafting on a mature rootstock is much faster. Takes only 1 year to see fruit.

    Once they get growing they are a climbing nightmare. I live in a dry hot climate which they seem to like. I had to tear mine out in the end.. huge plant, never set fruit

    My dragon fruit plant grows just like yours in the video, finger-sized thick. But instead of growing fatter and thicker, they just keep growing taller and longer. 🙁 I want them to grow fat and thick! Is yours like this too? Btw, I live at the equator so it is humid and summer all year round. ☀️

      @@GreenthumbsGardenthe tallest is probably 15cm tall (long) but they keep growing new buds at the sides. None of them are thicker than my index finger, which worries me.

      @@sanshribrahma4655 Hi, thanks for the reply! It has been many many months, or maybe a year already. ALL my dragonfruit cacti kept growing into many tiny new buds, and each bud develops into skinny long cactus. None of them grew thick! I gave them full sunlight, lots of water, and even lots of fertilizers, but nothing works! I also tried to research on this issue but found nothing relevant. Please help if you can!

      Maybe as a house plant? or conservatory. or bring it in for winter when its too cold, they wont do well in very cold weather.

      @@jennifertalwar6099 do a Google image search on dragon fruit and you will see some grown in smaller pots and kept small full of fruit.i want to try this! Yes they are very cute when they are small. And a lovely looking plant when big, the fruit is like a dragons egg. As long as you protect it from prolonged cold weather and frost then it should be ok to take out in the warmer months.

      @@GreenthumbsGarden Maybe at the Asian market one of the fruits will be there, it’s fairly hot and humid now, good to start the seed and by next season I can get a larger pot that I can bring out and then inside. There is a spot by the heater of my house that gets full sunlight in the mornings.

    still hardly 3 in tall since almost last year Jan . Seeds sprout super fast but growth is dismally slow.

      Yeah they do start off very slow, sprout fast then take forever to reach a couple of inches, then they start to speed up.

      @@GreenthumbsGarden Crossing my fingers . The small plants do see to be shallow rooted and have lost a few along the way. Only two left. Started new seedlings. My plan is to grow as an indoor plant and move outside during the summer.
