I'm also doing a ceiling that is better matched by the wall texture. Thanks for confirming that doing so can be the right choice. ❤️

THANK YOU! Have been trying to find guidance on this repair issue. The close up shots and tip about refrigerating the spray were by far the most impactful and unique among other videos I looked through.

I am redoing the texture of the ceiling from "Crows Feet" to this canned "Popcorn" texture but wasn't sure about it. This helped me explore this product! Thank you!

Thank you for posting. I have the exact same issue with upstair bathroom leak. My ceiling repair is smaller but noticeable and don't need the entire ceiling textured. This is exactly what I need. Great Video!

Thanks for the tip about chilling the can for a few minutes. It really helped match our ceiling texture. Thanks

I am in this exact same scenario, with roughly the same size repair. Thanks for posting. I have found many other videos about ceiling repair and patching, but nothing that covers just tape damage. You were lucky, I have yet to assess how bad the mud repair is going to be, I hope I can avoid replacing the tape as well.

I can replace tape and get it ready for texture in less then 10 minutes lol with one pan of 5 minute and wet sponge to clean the edge off before it sets up that repair will blend perfectly when you go to spray I noticed personally to have the can further away from the ceiling im a repair guy just never used then spray texture in a can until today also put your can in hot water it won’t come out as thick

nice video.this can only has one setting for the texture. the one i bought has a dial for heavy, medium or fine . People have had problems with spraying the one i bought so they are shaking the can, then soaking in warm or hot water for 15 to 20 minutes then shaking again. I'm really surprised that after chilling your can anything would come out at all but glad it worked for you. I confirmed with the Homax about solving the spray problem with the hot water soak on mine. The affiliate link has the one i bought with the adjustable settings so youre good to go

Does the spray get all over everything? I had used some spray paint once inside on a ceiling ac grate (ac off) and the fine aerosolized paint got all over everything in the room… I think I would rather roll on a texture if possible.

That was 3rd hand from Fastcap. You can get cheaper options at most the big box stores.

I never prime before use. The product is water based--as is the drywall compound. As a result, the product partially dissolves / softens the drywall compound and better bonds to it as it dries. Go slow. Don't spray one heavy coat.

Hello!!! I really wished i saw this video BEFORE i attempted to do this type of repair. Little did I know that there were different types of Homex products for different type of textures! So my first time around I used the Homex Popcorn texture on our ceiling and then found out our ceiling texture is classified more as orange peel :(. So now i have this eye sore that i want to try and attempt to do again. Question 1. Does Homex scrap off easily? Question 2. Once that stuff is off, to prep the area is to use mud, sand, then prime? Question 3. Did you paint the whole ceiling again after you sprayed the Homex product on? or did you just paint the area you repaired? Question 4. Is there a special paint that you use on texture ceiling? Thank you in advance, i thought the results looked great.

Thanks for the videos, very informative and appreciated!
My dilemma: I'm a newbie at creating ceiling finishes, and I have a 20" x 40" section of ceiling in my GF's house that I've patched (after watching your videos, thanks!) but now have to match the finish/skim coat. It's some variation of a knockdown finish but I can't find any YT videos that clearly show any knockdown that is very similar to what I have.
Question: Is there an online "drywall / ceiling / plastering forum" where I can upload photos of my ceiling finish, and where someone could see it and tell me exactly how to replicate that specific finish? Any help wld be much appreciated, thank you!
PS: I don’t have any special equipment like a spray gun or plaster finish sprayer. Just the regular hand tools, sponges, a Homex can of knockdown texture spray (which doesn’t seem to apply anything nearly as thick as what I apparently need) etc.

Could this product be sprayed all over your ceiling to create the orange peel look if you don’t already have it ?
