This clip is so brilliant. The song, the performance (shes 19/20 here), the band in cricket whites, the on the surface a light little reggae number which is actually about philosophy. God I miss pop music being this good. She and Bowie two peas in same pod :)
This is a song that I remember from my teenage years. Now it’s giving me new hope as I’m going through a very rough time in my life and I’m struggling with the dark demons of depression.
Amazing live performance... One of her all-time best! This outfit of Kate Bush, btw, should enter Madam Tussauds... It is iconic, quintessential Kate Bush!
Oh, how I love these two songs, especially "Moving". Kate's a musical genius. A legend. And the outfit she's wearing here is so... her, so iconic. She should be at Madame Tussauds wearing it.♥️
Real musical and songwriting talent from the late 70's - my only criticism is that she didn't tour enough in her prime, which deprived the fans of some great shows. Didn't seem to hurt her record sales though! Thanks for the upload; enjoyed it.
Definitely not the original album tracks but I do think she is miming. The BBC had a habit of getting artists to rerecord songs for "Live" performances so they would sound different. Also it sound like there are multi-tracked vocals, especially on "Moving". Note how on the first song she is clearly looking over to the director and just misses the start of the vocals, wouldn't happen these days as she would have some kind of in ear monitor to cue her in.
+ukdude2 You are absolutely right, but wow, besides that one mistake, she miming really well haha - especially considering this is an alternate recording.
@@stephenbanks5952 Look closely at the start of Them Heavy People, she definitely doesn't quite get there when the vocal starts and when she sings the words "my life" her vocals are multi tracked even though she has the male backing singers. There are more multi tracked vocals on Moving, also she steps away from the piano so who is playing it? No-one because it's a pre-recorded track. Compare to this performance which is live and sounds rather different:- czcams.com/video/kvFRIlDCILI/video.html Still love her
@@ukdude2 I will take a look. You could be right. But it must be made clear that if she was miming it is because that was the way it had to be, NOT because she could not sing it live. Sometimes on shows they have to mime. Kate may have had to mime, but she doesn't NEED to mime. That is the important thing.

Agreed, not only slower than the album version but also the, “Revolver” performance; which was fully live. The doubled backing vocal by Kate herself another clue to the mixing magic employed by the Beeb. Pebble Mill was a memorable venue for Kate, having appeared on an earlier show bringing, “Wuthering Heights” to the nation.

Moving is such an underrated track. It’s just so hauntingly brilliant.

Love that I still have these memories to watch of my uncle the bass player Del Palmer
My first recording session! What an experience!
She's my Queen!!! All hail Kate the Wonderful, Queen of music, dance and beauty. Long live the Queen!
She’s brill 💕
She's my Queen as well.👸♥️

She was sooooo beautiful in those days
Apart from the absolute best music ever, she looks a zillion dollars in this video.
I wonder how many men have said the same.
Hauntingly beautiful
I always read she didn't do many tours as she had stage fright. But in tv shows and other appearances she always looks so relaxed and confident

Love this tune! What a musician Kate Bush is!

It's like she is singing just for you. So lovely. so strong.
haha her delay to find the camera is so cute😂😍
She will always be the best

This is a live vocal.
She is not miming.

There's something I find quite funny about Del and Paddy's backup vocals here.
Isn't it Paddy and Brian Bath?
Ah...so lovely. Kate Bush is like a good old fashioned, end of year ghost story! Thanks for this clip.
Great.! Your voice one of a kind.!
Thanks for this fantastic live TV record!
I think you'll find this is being mimed.. Clue is in the fact the drummers not striking the drums.
ukcameraman Frequently happens that the music is partly/fully playback, even when the singer sings live. Common practice.
Canta lindo Kate Gracias!
Moving is almost an acoustic version - fab!
Love this video
ELA ERA TÃO BONITA OLHOS VERDES É CANTAVA SUPER BEM COM SUA VOZ AGUDO

Just twigged the kimono etc is the same as the album sleeve.
Check this: Kate Bush - Moving (LaLCS, by DcsabaS, 1978 BBC, 1978 Tokyo)
❤️❤️❤️
💟
Klassnaya Kate Bush!
Lol, I just saw that one of the commenting - Rabah El Aawar already mentioned Madame Tussauds. We think alike.😉
Kate Bush with Chas and Dave
Exquisite. Who is the bass player - classically trained? , soz to be lame, it's Saturday night
That bass player was the late great Del Palmer my uncle who was so talented. RIP
The Heavy People seems a little slower than the album version - was the whole thing re-recorded?
