i think the glitch only effects recipes that are able to be moved around in crafting, like how the chestplate can only be crafted one way, but the crafting table is 2x2, so it can go in the corners
Uhhhh…. I think u ment it effects ones that CAN be moved….
Helmets work, chestplates dont but only the bottom 3 in crafting and in the 2x2 the backwards L

REAL I noticed that too
I figured it out!!
Let me first do shapeless recipe as they are easier to understand
Let's take the flint and steel for our example
The flint and steel craft consist of 2 items, an iron ingot and a flint
What I think is happening is that when you craft the item, it checks the number of items and removed the item in the same amount of slots
So 2 items means top left and top middle gets -1 to their item count, if any
If there was 4 items, it would be top left, top middle, top right and left middle
9 items simply means all the slots gets -1
For shaped, a simillar logic can be applied, but also, empty slots in the recipes itself DO count as an extra item
This effectively means we can take the size of the recipe for the amount of slots getting -1
So the door is 2x3, so 6 slots gets deducted, in other words, the top 2 lanes
An axe is also 2x3, so 6 slots gets deducted
A pickaxe, a shield and a chestplate all are 3x3, which means all 9 slots gets deducted
A bucket is 3x2, so the 2 lanes gets deducted
A crafting table is 2x2, so the top lane + left middle slot gets deducted
A shovel is 1x3, so the top lane gets deducted
And that applies to every craft in the game, quite the funky bug ngl, don't know how they messed up like that
Edit:
Maybe the normal crafting method checks every slot 1 by 1 to see if they have an item, then removes 1 item per slot it finds an item in, but for some reason the check always succeed and applies on empty slots (in other words air)? (Maybe the components have something to do with that?)
Actually, if u use all the recipies given in crafting book, you will find that it takes off the items if it fits the recipe in crafting book. If not, the other slots are not cleared.
I suspect this has to do with crafting recipes with multiple "shapes" and it clears the crafting table in a rectangle the bounds the shape in the top left
The crafting table (2:00) and axe (2:05) don’t work for this.
@@user-ow1bc4sx2r the crafting table can be moved around
It's definitely something with recipes with multiple options, but this exact thing isn't it. It appears so with the helmet and the bucket, but not the crafting table (middle stays) and axe (bottom stays instead of right). There's something else going on.
So does that mean that Mojang perhaps plans on expanding the crafting grid?? :O
@@FrotLopOfficial Probably not, but it appears that they're modifying how it reads and determines recipes. Perhaps it's just a more efficient code itself, that's not yet completed. One idea I can think of is if every variant has to be manually added, but now only one variant is added and all positions and the mirror are allowed, so only one variant is added, but the code that subtracts wasn't updated. This really shouldn't be harder than subtracting 1 from every square, with the exception of buckets of liquids that turns into empty buckets. But this new code might have been made for any sized grid. But this is all speculation.
Now even 'legit' survival and hardcore worlds can just spend a moment in this snapshot to dupe stuff before rolling up the current version

Muscle memory hehe
To explain the glitch to my understanding, the game is clearing the table based on how many rows the recipe takes up, but "positional" crafting recipies are broken so that they only clear the default position (i.e starting in the top left corner)
Doesn't explain how the axe left the bottom stick instead of the right blocks. Maybe facing right but being far left is the default, but the rightmost blocks still disappeared.
But then there's the crafting table that stayed intact which is very confusing.
@@Liggliluff why axe left stick?
i think that it.
crafting table is 3x3 but in computer it memory one line 9 slot(it is array or list kind).
[0][1][2]
[3][4][5]
[6][7][8]
->
[0][1][2]3][4][5][6][7][8]
axe's basic recipe is
[P][P]
[S][P]
[S]
(P- plank slot. S-stick slot.)
so when crafing,
[u][u][n]
[u][u][n]
[u][n][n]
(u. used slot, n, none used slot)
but in data level,
[u][u][n][u][u][n][u][n][n]
so simply
[R][R][R][R][R][R][R][n][n]
reset like all forward 7slot.
so
[R][R][R]
[R][R][R]
[R][L][L]
(R - Reset , L- Laft)
I'd guess axes are facing left, far right. So the right column is deleted entirely while bottom middle is left untouched (it probably specifically mirrors valid recipes based on the top corner used). As for crafting tables, the effect only seems active in the top corners for most recipes, with any recipe not in them being entirely untouched (though it seems 3 wide recipes have a separate trigger)
That was my first guess as well, but it still doesn't explain many recipes like the door at 1:40. By that logic, it should leave the 3 planks on the right column, not the two on the bottom row.
@@Liggliluff you could be a sociopath and craft an axe like this ( iron 1 stick 2)
1 1 x
2 1 x
2 x x
Imagine they Tag the bug report as “Won’t fix”
they really would if they could
Pretty sure they changed the recipe system to remove the items when crafted where the recipe aligned but if you place it elsewhere it will still says it's a valid emplacement but remove from the recipe slot where there is nothing to remove.

Since matter cannot be created or destroyed, this must be Minecraft's way of finally balancing out all the matter that has been destroyed from cacti, explosions, fire, etc. in the past.
Of all the possible laws of physics for Mojang to implement in Minecraft, apparently the conservation of mass was the first…
And crafting stairs using a really unfair crafting recipe. Just think if they let us craft stairs using only three blocks instead of a whopping six, then we could save a LOT of matter!

Gigggigigigggggg
This happened much earlier, when in a snapshot they added to a kind of small bag that when crafting something you could put the materials in the bag before completing the crafting and you could still pick up what you crafted, obtaining infinite materials
I think when the table reads a craft-able recipe it's comparing it to a stored recipe that is aligned to the top left and if he crafts a recipe that doesn't match it it doesn't use up any of the resources.
For Multi-Resource recipes it look like it's checking to see if the resources above are in the correct spot based on the lower most resource so those resources disappear regardless, which would be why only the bottom stick remains when making an Ax, but presumably if he had made it on the left column nothing would have remained and it seems to be Row based since the bottom two planks stayed for the Door
Recipes with only one way to make would always use up all of the resource to make them like Picks, Chest and Leg armor
so I saw what was happening:
when a crafting recipe is just on the bottom row it stays, when it's on the middle and bottom row only the bottom row stays and if it's on all three rows everything disappears
2:00 entire crafting table stayed

axe was all three rows but left the bottom one, but it's a recipe that has multiple options. The pickaxe was removed fully, but it's a recipe that has one option.
@@yourlocalcinnasnail3065 Oh I think I understand from this! The crafting table is a 2x2 recipe so the game got confused and treated as if we were in a 2d grafting grid and only cleared slot.0, slot.1, slot.2, and slot.3 like it does in the 2x2. The game is clearing the absolute position of each recipe without taking the relative position in the crafting grid or the size difference between the crafting grid and the crafting recipe into account
@@potaatobaked7013yep, and for most 3x3 recipes it seems to be clearing the default all left recipe, but mirroring it if there's an item in the top right corner, hence the axe apparently clearing the top two rows and doors clearing everything. So beds should leave planks, and slabs should be safe, if I had to guess.
Someone mentioned in Xiuma's video that it could be a sign of a code rewrite, which would be great since Java's code is notoriously inefficient
riptide and sharpness are broken too, so maybe theres a code rewrite for enchantments as well.
@@JefffMocha there is ! Enhanctments are now data driven in this snapshot
@@JefffMocha
The entire enchanting system has been overhauled in this snapshot
The crafting issue looks to be due to the width and height of the recipe. It used to be that all of them were 3x3, but it looks like it was changed to be based on the actual size of the pattern. But the clearing clears the area from the top-left so with recipes that are smaller it doesn't clear the entire grid when it's supposed to.
I think I figured it out. So, to save memory it seems that the crafting table only clears the spots its possible for a recipie to be in. Like, with a chestplate it can only be the 8 spots. But with fluid recipies, like boots you can craft them in the top or bottom half. What's happening is that it's only clearing the default recipie for fluid recepies, causing only some of the squares to clear
Can we appreciate the fact that mojang adds some quality of life changes to help the player every update . Like this snapshot?
This is the physical embodiment of off-camera crafting.
I believe this happens because minecraft reads recipes like a book, left to right, top to bottom. and from looking at this, it seems like one of the issues here is that its only checking the rows that the original recipe is in. and this for some reason is not accounting for recipes you can move... i have NO idea how this got past moyang, and its a pretty quick fix, so its definitely going to be patched next snapshot
Can't wait for PhoenixSC's Minecraft Let's Play Episode 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i believe this is a bug with shapeless crafting. it seems to only affect crafting whenever you craft outside of the base craft for items, which is why items that can only be made one way never give anything back, and why stuff like oak logs give back only outside of the top left slot (the base craft for all items are pushed as high up and far left as possible)
What about doors
@@shigekax no idea lmao. i dont have access to the code base so i'm taking pot shots based on patterns i see. maybe they take from the crafting table instead or something
I believe it is shapeless and mirrorable/shiftable recipes (like the axe and doors, which can be crafted if mirrored with a vertical line of symmetry, or shifted left/right/up/down)

We need the survival series
Came in very handy while making Packed Mud for a build during the weekend.
it looks like it only works for recipes that don't take up the whole length and width of the crafting space.
if something takes up only 1 space it will always remove the top left slot so if your item isn't there it will stay.
the helmet and boots take a 3x2 space and it always takes it from the top 2 rows.
it always assumes it is in the top left most position
I remember playing with my friend on our server. We were in the nether and he told me that when he was trying to craft planks, the log was still here. And tried this and, at first we were like "yeah ok". But after we beat the ender dragon (~30 minutes after) we realized how powerful this glitch is. Then we started duping emeralds and some blocks to bridge to the ends cities.
Why is him playing survival genuinely very entertaining on par with actual survival CZcamsrs brooooooo? Gotta make a survival series
I don't know who started the trend of any-snapshot-goes challenge runs but 24w18a is gonna be a favorite in those.
As far as I can tell, each recipe is now hardcoded to remove the "default" slots of each recipe. That is why an iron pickaxe or a chestplate removes everything; there is only 1 configuration to craft them. However, something like sticks has 6 different configurations, but it is currently only removing the items from the 2 left slots, a.k.a the "default" configuration. On the wooden axe one, for example, it seems that the default axe configuration is with the wood facing left. That is why it removed everything from the middle row, but left the right row.
I've been exploiting these bugs and started playing this on Hardcore mode, I have found many bugs...
But If you have two shields you can put the two in the crafting slot to heal them, you get one repaired and the bottom one is still there
Infinite Repairing!!!
i like how at 1:00 to the right a clump of sand just fell

Finally, Steve is no longer eating the leftovers from crafting
What seems to be happening is that it assumes that all recipies are being placed in the upper left most position, and its only removing ingredients from slots it thinks they're in because of that.

Fun fact in minecrsft xbox one edition which is 1.8 something similar happened where if you renamed for example 8 iron to bob and then you crafted a block using it and a piece of unnamed iron then you would keep thr named iron in the grid while a block was made only expending the unnamed iron. Then you could
You could then uncraft the block and boom infinite iron
Now the classic "I did some off-camera mining" can finally be real
There was an interesting glitch requiring 18 of any resource that can be crafted into blocks and crafted back into the resource on console edition.
Basically you turn off classic crafting. Then fill your inventory with junk and leave 2 spots open. Craft 1 block of that resource. Hold down the crafting button from there and create infinite [resource]!
there was another one where you craft and exit the menu at the same time, creating a ghost [resource] block, and you can just place the ghost block and the game would accept it, giving you a free block of that resource basically.
