- Sri Lanka, Dikwella. My newly discovered food is the Sri Lankan egg roti. Delicious, warm and it goes amazingly well with tea! This is easily some of my favourite go to foods here in Sri Lanka!

Iraq is a good friend of Sri Lanka. with so much history. And used to export so many tea during Saddam Hussien time.And people like Gaddafi , Saddam Hussien & che very famous in Sri Lanka. Same is Iran good friends of Sri Lanka.

Tomcats I remember when I was young,shops were fully stocked with dates. Iraq used to give dates in exchange for Sri Lanka tea
@@vijayafernando1 so true my father told me stories about Iraq. How powerful was Iraq back then with so many educated people not only oil they had. Also our O/L history teacher told us about saddam Hussein. And Gaddafi how he became leader when he was just 28.

A small tweak to make this video more interesting. Please accept my apologies if I have upset you.
You had an Egg Roti first, then also another version of Roti (fish or vegetable) insted of the Samosa , its generally known as Vegetable Roti.
Third, you had Ulundu Vadai (a vegetarian snack made by soaking urad dal for a few hours and then grinding it into a smooth paste). To make it more flavorful, add green chiles, dried coconut, coriander, and curry leaves. further shaped into doughnuts and fried till golden brown and crunchy in hot oil)
Finally, you had Parippu Vade (Parippu Mean Dal) prepared in the same way as Ulundu Vadai, but it's not grounded until the past (I'm not a good Chef so I can't describe it very well :P ).

1:29 Sri Lankans call these “Short-eats” and generally considered snacks. Not as meals.
3:06 That is a vegetable roti, which is cooked on a skillet like heated steel plate (7:06) and Samosa is a deep-fried food. The local norm is: Vegetable roti: Triangular, Fish/Chicken roti: Rectangular.
3:50 Vadai (Vada) is originally a South Indian food and this is a Sri Lankan version of that. A fun fact is, although they called it “Ulundu Vadai” (Black Gram Vadai) probably it contains 0% Ulundu (Vigna mungo).

6:06 I bet the tea was too sweet. As a local I always ask for low sugar tea. And the fun fact is Sri Lankans call "tea with milk" as tea. Tea without milk is locally called "plain tea".

@@visuallydata668 yes 400 is very fair. Most ppl don't realise that shop owners has to pay rent, electricity and wages etc.. and due to current inflation most of the businesses are collapsing.

I am from dikwella, you have gone to Kusum bath kade which is the name of the shop, normally 1 one egg rotti is 60 rupees in there😂 it means you could have bought 3 egg Rotties for 1$

He’s absolutely correct never go to a tourist places like restaurants and things like that go to ask the locals where they eat don’t be afraid to ask them because in Greece is the same, don’t go to the tourist places because it doesn’t taste the same. Look for the taverna’s outside we’re all the restaurants are connected. Those are only catered to the tourist. That’s why many tourist keep posting that Greece is expensive. Because they only stay in that section they don’t try to go out and do what Ali does. Because some of these tourists only go for vacation not learning the culture or they are vacationing.
