    I know a lot of people always compare her to Floor (and I love Floor so much) but she's different from Simone. I mean, all singers are unique. Personally for me, Simone's voice has the most timeless and unique sound I have ever heard and she sets higher in my preferences than Floor or any other metal singers. I especially love what Epica did to their official english cover of Attack on Titan's third opening theme, Dedicate Your Heart. Maybe I was a fan of both band and show but I literally cried when I heard it 😆😆

    In the early years, Simone's voice could be a bit patchy in concert, but by this time of her development she knows what she can do, and does it very well. Maybe the haters remember the early years and haven't bothered to listen since?

    Her and Floor's voice are completely different. However, she gets compared to Floor all the time. It got so bad that Simone was asked if she'd ever do growls/grunts (because Floor done them in Revamp/Nightwish) and she said "no, why would I? We have a vocalist who does growls in Epica" (Mark Jansen and actually Isaac does too).

    • @DanielaRochel
      @DanielaRochel Před 3 lety +2

      Yeah, I see people comparing them two nowadays and I remember when I first heard them (somewhere around 2005, Floor was in After Forever yet and Epica only had their first album) and I felt in love with their voices and the differences between them, in their own way. When Floor went to Nightwish I saw people complaining if she would sound like Tarja and it made me so upset that crowds and hater put this kind of pressure on other people doing their jobs. If I want to see a "copy paste" I wouldn't hear music, I would just open my tik tok and see a bunch of different faces doing the same sh"t everywhere hahahahaha

    Epica performed here on stage with the same orchestra that accompanied Epica in the recording of the live album The Classical Conspiracy: the 70-piece Extended Hungarian Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre. All professional musicians.
    Simone tends to sing some songs live a bit different than on the studio version, she's playing with the songs. And that is exactly what a live concert is all about to me! Otherwise one can better stay at home and listen to the album. Simone is one of a kind with that crystal clear voice that no one else has.

    Now in a big fan of both Epica and Nightwish.. and to me they are totally diffrent bands, just got the thing in common they both make symfonic metal, both got a very good female singer, and both like to make things epic (Not just Epica)hehe.. i think when i listen to Epica, i get this true symfonic metal vibe, where they hit me with brilliant stuff, and sounds that make it feel great.. Where when i listen to Nightwish, i do get more of a story and emotions often, as well as a lot i dont mention, but yes i can see why they can look simular to some, but i think they are very diffrent.. great reaction.. Really great comments about Simone's singing. I'm a fan of the band for more than a decade now, and I've seen their live. She did a great job every single time (and I also really really love her timbre.)
    Another great performance by the whole band is Serenade of Self-destruction, from this same concert. Not only it's a great song on its own, but the performance was on fucking fire.
    This might never see the light of day, as The room is not a very popular band, despite being one of the founders of symphonic metal, but I'm gonna leave here the suggestion of Ginnungagap live Gothic, which is also a great song, and during this performance there are four singers in the stage, it's simply awesome.

The 4th and final lyric (behind-the-scenes) video before the release: *_"Talk of the Town"_* . Arjen says this is the most Ayreon-ish track on the album. It features Tom Baker, Paul Manzi, Tommy Karevik and Cammie Gilbert on vocals, and the fantastic instrumentalists Juan van Emmerloot, Joost van den Broek, Patty Gurdy, Jeroen Goossens and Ben Mathot. Oh yeah... and some tall beardy dude provides the comic relief :-).

    Simone is good, for a human singer, but she's not god level, like Floor Jansen. Even in this video she misses a few notes, Floor doesn't really do that, she always seems completely in control of her voice. And that's the problem with symphonic metal, you are going to get compared to Floor and then you loose. In any other genre this would be great singing.
