This was the first meet I've ever attended and I was completely star struck! The worst was when NBC held Gabby and made her stand through the entire floor routine of either Suni or Jade (can't remember) while she was ready to start on bars. I'm sure it got to her (hell, it got to me and I was eating chicken tenders and fries in the stands.) Then when Konnor fell in warmup you could feel everyone deflate even more. I couldn't get a hotel for under $400 so I went back to the parking garage to sleep. Ended up eating too many Snickers Bars and watching You Tube half the night in my sleeping bag to cheer myself up. I just hope Gabby stays in the game after the Olympics - her fan base is immense and it feels like she hasn't even gotten started.

Simone’s biggest issue is landings but she doesn’t really need to worry about it if her D score is high enough. As long as she’s able to land safely…that’s all I care about.

Damn, that was the worst classics I've seen in an olympic year. If that competition is an indocator of how the US olympic team is gonna be (Shi ans Simone AA, Jade on vault and floor and the rest average routines with maybe one specialist) the US team is lucky that there is no team close on their heels at the olympics. I though US trials was gonna be more intense than the olympics but right now everyone is just f***ing around and it's like they have to pick the most consistent out of the inconsistent.
This competition was full of twists and turns and lots of emotions!!! Gabby and Konnor were the biggest shocks for me!! After tonight though, I would say that the top 5 seems to be Simone, Shilese, Jordan, Jade, and Suni with that beautiful beam routine and an upgraded D dismount!!

Well martha brought maroney and kocian to the olympics as a one event specialist. Kara eaker went to championships to do beam. If suni can outscore simone on beam at the next 2 meets, she is definitely a lock

I’m Asian American, and I support Gabby, Suni, and I’m really sad about Connor. I can’t say that I’m happy to hear these things about Suni working in a nail salon. The trolls baiting you? How many of them are just jealous (prob white) people trying to get you to say terrible and offensive things? This is from an age old playbook. It saddens me to see that it still works for them.
There are a number of people who tried to put the label on him in the beginning when he literally just said the Chinese girls need to bulk up a bit. This is the same thing Cheng Fei said, was cancelled, and replaced by Paseka in the first place. While yes some trolls (and Russian trolls) tear down black women by empowering others here and in their own platforms, some people can read Asian languages, go to these gymnastics forums, and see how they tear down Gabby's appearance over non-black gymnasts. And the spread of conspiracies against Simone is still rampant. Also, on YT, the proportion of criticism (how people defend non-black gymnasts over overscoring vs BW) against BW is unbalanced. They are still ongoing and I know why he's mad.
Jordan stock is up. After Tokyo I know team USA wants at least 3 AA gymnasts on the team. With Simone and Shilese likely competing all 4 events that leaves jade on the team for her cheng and floor and Suni (or Gabby but…) for beam and bars. Who they putting up over Jordan at this point? A tad bit. Jordan has a lot of improvement BUT…she did just come back from an injury and placed on the podium so that is promising. Also Jade fell on bars but I do believe had she not she MAY have placed higher than Jordan. MAY HAVE.

Jade's attempted D score on bars was 6. Toe 1/1 + Pak Full, Maloney + Gienger, Ezhova, Van Leeuwen, clear hip to handstand, double double. She or her dad said she can upgrade every tumbling pass (from CNBC).
Hot take: if Suni spent more time working on her gymnastics and less time trying to be a social media influencer she might be a little bit further along in her comeback process. Just saying.
To be fair, NBC was saying that Suni has now dealt with two separate kidney illnesses. I don't think that she can train as hard or as often as some of the other competitors. That's probably why she's spending more time on social media now. That, and she's trying to make money off of being an AA champ, like Shawn and Nastia have done. I don't know if she thinks that she can be as successful or well known as Gabby and Simone are (because she probably can't), so right now, her best bet might trying to do NBC commentary. Dunno how well that pays, but if she wants to make money, I think that that's the way for her to go. If Golden is anything to go by, Jess Graba has made sure that she knows the code pretty well and understands what her deductions are. With media training, she could probably be the next Nastia or Sam.

25:00 yeah I’m surprised we aren’t seeing beam upgrades from Biles. If she’s doing the triple double, why can’t she do her double double dismount off beam and front 1/2? Would those skills add to her D score?
The double double dismount only adds 0.1 and isn't worth the risk or potential extra E deductions. The Barani could add to her D score, but she took it out initially because she would tend to get balance checks on it that made it not worth the risk. That's also the skill that she fell on during the AA in Doha, so that might also be why she doesn't want to do it again. That's the only time that she's fallen on BB at Worlds or Olympics as well.
Your audio sways in and out from low & muffled (hard to hear) to loud, while your guests have consistently crisp audio. Please remedy that. I enjoy your channel but can't miss your key points and references esp when you're offering rebuttals, pointing scoring E/D discrepancies out, or making comparisons and references to things I'm learning about from you. As far as Simone taking steps- I think today was all about getting her confidence back. As we get closer she’ll dial it in.
