Once you become Muslim, all your past sins are forgiven and turned into good deeds. One may want to change their name to a name that’s more pleasing to Allah and start the new chapter of their life as fresh person. If one keeps their old name there is no problem as long as their name isn’t degrading or conflicts with Islamic teachings.
