Please watch not just the music video of Vilja Lied but also the pre-talk to it where she is introduced to the others and the tv crowd as "the metal girl" and then blows everyone away with a stunning operatic performance. You can almost see the other artists react and think "where the heck did that come from?!"
@@sabina1118 Floor opened the show with Vilja Lied and just blew the other singers minds,only 2 of them knew who Floor was but none had heard her sing like this and it was not expected from this Metal front woman, after the shows 7 day run finished Floor's & NW's popularity soared in Holland and then everywhere .
@@sabina1118 if/when you watch Winner from this series, realise the singer/writer beforehand claimed he wouldn't cry on any song ever in the series( he wrote Winner for his disabled brother ) and watch his tears flow because Floor just does Floor

You're not babbling, I get exactly what you mean. Her goodness as a person is what stands out on Beste Zangers. Away from the metal spotlight, pared down, her sensibility and empathy for the subject within the songs, even other people's songs, comes through. All her songs on this programme are great, but in a similar vein to 'Shallow', I think 'About Love I Don't Know a Thing', 'Winner' and 'Mama' are really emotionally powerful.

@@sabina1118 IMO part of what draws people to Floor is her quiet confidence..not an arrogant "look at me" confidence, but a warm, calm, inviting, welcoming confidence (to go along with her insanely ridiculous abilities)...
All her performances in this show were impressive. The one that stood out for me was " about love I don't know a thing." This song was written by the Benjamin of this group, Ruben. He wrote it in his teens about his parents' divorce. Floor translated it into English with her sister.

If you watch Emma Heesters singing Floor's song, 'Strong', have plenty of tissues ready. Such an emotional performance from Emma, and equally emotional reaction from Floor. This was in episode 4 of Beste Zangers, where they all sang to Floor.

Every Floor performance in this show was great and full of emotions. But my favourite is Que se siente. Floor in colourfull dress and with Flower in hair.

Floor isn't only the voice, it is the person on and off stage with all her talents and the things she learnt about herself and her singing. In my eyes she grown a beautiful person with a beautiful voice who tells stories on stage and stand for all she wants. The first song she did on this show Vilja Lied, is very good. The other artists did not know what to expect and she blew them away.
This is a masterclass of emotional ballad singing. Floor uses her vast toolbox to reach our heart and soul. There are rich voice textures, delicate use of tone changes and little hints of some subtle rasp here and there. I can't understand, how this could be done any better. Thank you! ⛄👍

@@sabina1118 Sabina, Floor opens the show with Vilja Lied for Henk Poort a song his mother sang to him in his youth,only 2 of the other singers knew who Floor was but none of them had heard her sing the various styles she employed and needless to say they where all blown away. There are 2 pivotal events since Floor joined Nightwish #1 Wacken 2013,#2 Beste Zangers 2019,after the show concluded Floor's popularity soared in the Netherlands and thus so did Nightwish's everywhere, ticket sales skyrocketed and arenas sold out. enjoy

I am a 63 year old man and listening to Floor sing this song, I have to dry the tears from my eyes! She is so incredibly talented. If she was based in the USA...she would be a superstar! In a way, I am glad she isn't... because I don't know if it would change her. She is so real...and you can tell how much she enjoys singing!
Even towards the end of this video, I can see that you are holding back tears...but it's okay...Floors talent reaches inside us and touches our very soul...and lets us feel emotions we try to hide!
Floor sings several songs with Nightwish that just bring tears to my eyes...and I am okay with that! Even my wife sees me crying while listening to Nightwish...and I know doesn't understand...but releasing those emotions is good for me!

You really ought to react to Disturbed's song, "Hold Onto Memories".... it's an acoustic song...not the typical heavy metal they normally play. They also do a cover of Stings " If I Ever Lose My Faith In You." And it's fantastic!

She has such a powerfull presence, but she is so humble and gracious that it doesnt feel threatening, just inviting and welcoming. She truely is an amazing artist and human being.
I said repeatedly that if I met Floor in person, I would probably hug her. And I know it sounds weird, but it is about that motherly nature you talked about. I absolutely agree with you. She is an empath, she said that about herself, she can sense feelings better than other people, and that probably adds that something special to her performances.
And the next song from here I would definitely recommend Winner. You´d probably need tissues for the ending. :)
You can watch episode 4 about Floor. You really get to know her and enjoy henk poort and Emma heesters, but all performances for her are good.

Floor has a bunch of covers on her youtube channel that are all amazing. She just becomes whatever she is singing to such a degree....she empathizes so hard with the songs she performs that it makes us all believe.
Beste Zangers was created by the Dutch and other countries liked it very much and have now their own...
And yes, she is a Goddess of Empathy..😁😁

I don't know how many times I've watched Floor not just sing a song but step fully into an emotional role that fits the song perfectly. She is one of a very rare breed in her ability to become the music in a way that far surpasses her training and the growth in her mechanics that comes from her professed nerdhood. Regarding her love of singing, I'm relatively certain that throughout her career whenever she has encountered a new style or technical type of singing, she is almost driven to figure out how to do it and how to perfect it and add it to her repertoire. In my amateur opinion, this makes her a something of a world treasure. Anyways, enough of this chattering by an aging fanboy. Thank you for your thoughtful and entertaining reaction! Ciao!

As stated by Floor the goal of this performance was to "keep the song small." Even in doing so it's the best performance of "Shallow" ever.

Your reaction is spot on. Floor has the most beautiful voice in the known universe, but besides that she does not sing a song, instead she performs it and she shovels emotions straight into your heart. Shivers and tears are guaranteed! And you are absolutely right. Her moves, even the moves from her fingers, her gestures, expressions....it is an art. Even the way she starts a show... She not gets on the podium, she "enters" the podium. It takes about two nanoseconds to get everyones 100% attention.
Next to that it is more than an art when you are able to remain yourself despite all the attention that you receive. She remains modest, honest, shy ( outside the podium), friendly, warmhearted from within. And you can't fake that. It is really her. She is indeed a Goddess in every sense of the word. You were absolutely right in your comments. Thanks for this nice reaction.

There is also the duet version with Tim which is more close to the original. But in this one she completely owned the song.

i'm just guitarist and drummer .. but someone like floor !! She can feel what she is singing. it is in the song. she lives exactly that .. not everyone can do that. and we are lucky that she is at nightiwsh ... now the songs also have a real soul.

Floor's empathy is outstanding. I hope that she can keep a lid on it - to feel too much can be dangerous. Floor sang this for Emma (in red) if I remember right. Emma also sang it and her version is good too!

I remember listening to this song in A Star is Born in the theater with amazing acoustics. I cried yes. That's such a powerful song in the movie - with Bradley Cooper singing and playing the guitar and then Lady Gaga joining in. But even with Floor singing it is a joy to listen to because you can see she just enjoys singing that song and sharing it with the others in the room. Here the song also has a different quality to me - whereas in the movie version I felt a sense of desperation in it, here it's really more warmth - because of as you said the mother archetype that she is. I really also feel like Floor would just take everyone in the world by her left and right arm, forming a link between everyone with herself in the middle, and then walking forward, leading the way while she smiles at them.

One word that comes to mind is Valkyrie :) It's a superb version of this song, and she really does emote those feelings! The expressions on the others' faces say it all :) Ruben was just blown away, and I think you should watch/hear her perform his song for him (translated into English by her and her sister). I Don't Know a Thing About Love, that one's also an amazing performance by her!

I think her energy is alpha female for sure. A strong, feminine woman who is tapped into the soft and powerful side of being a woman. I think you would love to see Henk do Sound of Silence. He sings this for Floor and Tim Akerman sings Nemo to Floor and it works so well. Floor's performances of Winner (for Tim) and Vilja Lied (for Henk) are must-sees.
I loved and understand your emotions. ❤ If you can find a 'clip' of Beste Zangers (translated in English to Best or Dear singers), I suggest you watch them. I got tears almost everytime Floor sang because she chose to sing songs that had a special place for the other singers in their hearts. I believe Justjen has placed them on CZcams. Probably the best singer of all times.
There are so many amazing little touches in this one, it's filled with them. Just to mention one, I like how when she sings the chorus with a mixed belt she still spices some of the words with very Gaga-esque raspy sounds. Such a small detail among the many others but it's a great homage to the original.
I don't know if they are still available, but jenniezelf and Denise Hofs have both done translations of the intros and outros of this show on their channels. I would recommend using their versions if you do more of this show.
During the show, someone asked Floor whether she would rather sing in this environment or in front of thousands of people and she said the thousands is easier.
I think the brilliant key to this performance is how stripped down this version is. It makes every little notion of her voice even stand out more. Brilliant idea to make it so "little and quite and fragile".

You might consider the first song from the first show..
None of the others knew Floor - 2 of them had heard of her...
But she was considered a metal head - therefore she dresset like a metal head....
Henk was walking around, teasing the others of how he was looking forward to see them doing opera - his style.
Floor was the 1. Singer - doing Vilja Lied, - opera - in german of course (she performed in german, spanish, dutch and english).
Henk became quiet.
The others - their looks in their faces says it all. Floor set the barr so sky-high - the others realized that they had to perform like they had never done before - and they did.
That season of Beste Zangers will never be matched.

Yesterday We have had a special edition of the 'Beste Zangers' in the Netherlands. It's a eurovision version and Floor Jansen posted her cover version of the eurovison contest song 'Euphoria' on youtube, yesterday.

Watch all the performances on this show. All the other people there are wonderful singers but Floor for me , at least , is so amazing and has something special beyond most others. She sings in Spanish on that show like it’s her first language, it’s a wonderful song too.
