  • The Flipside 4 wallet is a polycarbonate (hard plastic) wallet with a spring opening and several card slots with cash capabilities. It's fun to use, but is the Flipside wallet really useful in day to day carry? Seems large for a convenient carry, but it grows on you.

    carrying the 3rd version since 2015, 5 years using it, still amazing, no breakage , no wear and tear, the spring is still as sharp as ever, not even a scratch on it, this wallet is simply the best i ever owned, i just love the idea that my cash is inside of it and safe from water or leaking liquids , and it is strong, durable and so comfy in pocket, simply a 10/10 product, i can't use any of those cards only with cash outside, this wallet is simply amazing.

    As one of the most anticipated wallets, if not the most anticipated wallet I was waiting to see reviewed on the channel, I must say I'm slightly disappointed that it doesn't fit euro - unless you fold the bills over twice. Oh well, one more wallet to scratch from my list.

    I've had one for 4 years now. Still works flawlessly. Dropped a few tine so it has light dings. It fits the same in front or back. When I'm not feeling like sitting on it, I just slip it in the front pocket easy. This is really not a wallet you sit on. But I've gotten completely used to it. I have the external card carrier attachment because my work badge kept getting de magnetized fron other cards. I keep it on the outside and I can get in the gate by sensor without taking it out. Works great and haven't had an issue with anything.

    I've used the Flipside for 7-10years now. Been so long I can't remember when I originally bought it. I normally carry 6 cards + ID and up to a dozen USD bills. I have but don't use either the drawer or elastic back. It is really comfortable in the back pocket of my jeans and small enough to fit in a pocket T. The feature I like most are the 3 card trays/slots. There is a single card tray in the bill compartment I use for ID. The 2 additional trays hold up to 3 cards each so it's easier to find the card you want than single card compartment wallets. The only major drawback is that business cards do not fit in the wallet. You can put them in the elastic attachment, but I've found that biz cards get dog eared and thrashed on the back. So after 7-10 years I'm ready for a new one. My Flipside is starting to crack as I sit on the hard ground a lot. I'm really impressed it has held up so well. It still works flawlessly.

    Been using this wallet for several years. A nice aspect of the plastic is the different colors it comes in so if you get it in a bright color and it falls out of your pocket its easy to see if you're not paying attention. I'm over 300 lbs and have fallen on it crawled all over it doing construction and it holds up. While it does let dirt in, since the wallet is rigid the dirt doesn't continuously grind on the cards so they last longer and the rubber card retaining system keeps all the cards in no matter how you flip it and holds the cards in that you aren't pulling out.. Compliments when I take it out in public and just has been the best wallet by far that I have ever owned. I will be hard-pressed to support another type.

  • @obsidiansands
    @obsidiansands Před 4 lety +7

    Great review! It's a good wallet, for sure, but it's too rigid for a back pocket carry. I'm halfway thinking you'd get back and butt pains until you're used to sitting slightly sideways with this thing. It doesn't have enough of a slim profile to carry it up front either. It's not completely dust proof, nor is it waterproof - though it's definitely somewhat crush-proof as I've seen other people run the thing over with their car. Some may love it, but as a person who's transitioning to a slimmer wallet - the bulkiness is a no sale from me. That's even thicker than my cell phone, and it's got an armored case! If you add in the thing's accessories, it makes it even bulkier.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  Před 4 lety +4

      It certainly is beefy and wouldn't be something I would like to carry. It is popular with the EDC crowd, but I don't understand why they didn't put a rubber seal around the opening. With that in place I would have found the bulk a little more acceptable.

    • @obsidiansands
      @obsidiansands Před 4 lety +4

      @@walletopia yeah, I agree - the rubber seal would be a cap in that thing's all-around-protections as its selling point. I actually got the STOW after your review, it's almost completely perfect - from size and capability to be able to fit up front. My only gripe is that it doesn't have that much space for cash, but I can live with it. Originally before buying a STOW, I was almost bad enough to be like Seinfeld's George when it comes to having an over-bloated wallet. Having a back injury meant I really needed to slim down on putting a bulky wallet in my back pocket.

Now it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fly out of my hands anymore. A heat gun should fix the warping but if there’s one update this wallet needs is a grippier surface 100%.

I was thinking while watching it, that a good use for this wallet would be in situations where it might get wet, or sandy, like the beach or on vacation. Then you went ahead and confirmed it wasn't even water tight! I've never seen a plastic wallet like this that wasn't water and dust proof. From how you demonstrated card access, it looks like the difficulty in accessing the cards that aren't on top is going to be a deal breaker for most. I'm going to hard pass on this one.

I wanted to remove the center flipper, the card slots, and the money clip so I can store only cash in it. Haha I shoved so many bills in it after I hollowed it out. Took forever to file through the high-strength polycarbonate resin. I had to use a file to shape the shoulders, and then gorilla glue the shoulders back on the wallet to hold the metal bar in place. First thing to most likely ware out will be the springs. All in all, it’s so strong that I bought a new one. My score is 36/50.

      Haha, it's great how you can see a wallet and immediately know what you like and don't. Honestly, that's what motivates most wallet manufacturers. They don't find what they want so they create it themselves!!

      It's a huge plastic box that offers zero benefits over a traditional leather wallet.

      @@Bungle2010 Diff'rent strokes and all. I've long retired my traditional leather wallet and have been toting my flipside about everyday without complaint since 2007 as memory serves.. Every now and then I explore new or alternative options but I have keep coming back to this one. For me, its as perfect a solution as I've ever found for what I need and what I carry.
      Simple. Easy. Solid. Enough.

    Too low of a score. I got 8 cards on the one side but 2 insurance cards and dl card on the other plus 5 bills. You did not mention that this has RFID protection.

      Jonathan, it’s a polycarbonate pile of pish! Am into making my carry look and feel awesome, not cheapen it down by placing it all inside a cheap and nasty piece of plastic. Also, the whole way it works just makes me 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ What a waste of time. lol

      Richard Barnes it functions brilliantly. As a wallet it is the most functional one I have ever had. And I have wasted a LOT of money on wallets including my newest $95 One Star Leather 6 pocket wallet. Countless Recycled Firefighters, Flowfolds, Saddleback Leather products... department store minimalist wallets, billfolds, trifolds... none of them worked as well as the FlipSide. It IS kinda bulky and cheap looking/feeling though, I’ll give you that.

    Are you kidding? You might as well buy Altoids in a tin and you get a free wallet. 40 bucks? Crush resistance on a wallet? From a pure esthetics point of view, understand its in the eye of the beholder, that think is ugly.

    I try to keep an open mind about people's taste in things and I absolutely , never want to insult someone else's taste! That being said, this is the worst looking wallet that I have ever seen. It looks like a toddler's toy to me! I could never ever carry it!The thing is, I'm the old out-outdated guy, because this wallet is so popular and so loved!! lol ,,, This wallet has an incredible following and I just do not get it!

    dude...everything was good until you got to scoring, no offense but your scoring makes no sense
    quality looks like a 4...it's not solid as a rock,but it's not flimsy crap either
    price is a 4-5...it's made in the USA, of course it's going to cost more, but that keeps manufacturing jobs here
    featuresv5...what more do you want; a toothbrush and coin carrier???
    usability...i'll give you that, some crybaby will whine that he has to go through the 'hassle' of actually finding the card he wants....(oh the tragedy of it all )
    perception...since perception is basically "first opinion/ impression'...i go 4
    it's now on my short list of next wallet

  • @lacivertumutkazankaya2042

    I have a Flipside 3, and I have been using it for over three years. One additional problem with the product is that sliding cards in and out cause them to wear off in time. I also agree that its look can be improved to make it more premium. However the real problem is the company itself. They are very discriminative in their potential customers. They only ship to a number of selected countries--only Anglo-Saxon countries to be precise--and disguise their discriminating practice by referring to subpar postage system in the rest of the world. I don't buy it!
