I do not understand Welsh, but for me personally, there is something so Godly, so masculine and yet so tender, when I listen to any of the Welsh mens choirs, especially their renditions of hymns. May God Bless Wales and her Beloved people !

My Dad Terry left us on Christmas Eve 2014 after a long struggle with cancer. He used to sing in Cwmbran Male Voice Choir, and as a kid I would go along to their concerts to hear them. There is something unique about the Welsh male voice choir, the harmonies seem somehow beyond this life, other-worldly almost. That sound was woven into my soul as I grew up, and still decades later I feel something stir inside me when I hear it. Treorchy are wonderful proponents of the art. Thank you so much for this. Miss you Dad.
Hello Ian. I’m sorry for the loss of your Dad, but also glad you have such lovely memories of him. Some 30-odd years ago, I had the absolute blessing of attending the choir festival in Llangollen. Sitting in a huge tent, listening to the welsh male choir, I was sure I was being given a glimpse of Heaven. I’m sure your father’s song continues in your heart and in Heaven.
@Gareth Thomas sorry if i misunderstood you. It was a request for information really. Why did the valleys vote brexit and not annibyniaeth... any idea?

Why is it anger O myfanwy that fills your eyes so dark And Clear Your gentle cheeks O sweet myfanwy why blush they not when I draw near where the smile that once most tender kindled my love so fond so true where is the sounds of your sweet words that drew my heart to follow you my myfanwy may you spend your lifetime beneath the midday sunshine's glow and on your cheeks O may the roses dance for a hundred years or so forget now all the words of promise you made to one who loved you well give me your hand my sweet myfanwy but one last time to say farewell
Draws tears every time I hear it sung well. Even friends who don't speak Welsh say they are moved by the melody and 'spirit' of the song. A beautiful love song.
You can tell it's the Land of Song. All the people are standing and listening. That wouldn't happen in most places I know in England! Maybe a few, but not all of them.

Here’s a thought, these men who sang like angels at one time had jobs like coal miners or farmers during the day. Many would have served in regiments like my grandfather's in WWI, the Welsh Guards. They were/are tough, proud men from a harsh landscape, yet when they sing…

It's more complicated & different , but basically that's what happened to us . He never stopped loving me despite what happened .I broke his heart twice as I was not ready for what he wanted & I wanted to be w/an older boy or man .I was his 1st crush/ love ! We cut our contacts. He started asking my ex. best friend for advises & she tricked him& led him on w/ her plots against me .Who also told him that he didn't have the chance w/ me !.Years later we met again I fell in love w/ him , but my friend didn't tell him that as inconvenient for her schemes. Then I got married & divorced. And that caused the tragic just like I predicted it when we were teens he wrote a song ' Seven days in the sun' for me ( Feeder . it's not Grant's song ! )& told me about this song as I asked why he felt that I wouldn't be around ! He took his own life out of his guilty as the schemes got out of hands & caused me huge damages & he couldn't be w/ o me ! I got mad at him & yelled at him on the phone as I thought it was a crank call ! He could barely speak !( I was mad at him also as I realized of his involvement , but I forgave him ). The news reported about the reasons of his death was far far away from the truth ! Jon was not a man who would had slapped any woman ! NEVER ! He was the sweetest & kindest man I've ever known in my life ! Please remember JON LEE in a positive way as he so deserves it !.
