This week, Simon investigates the Keeley Electronics, Darkside. Touted as a one-stop shop for obtaining those much sought after Dave Gilmour tones, we look at its sonic arsenal and see if we can use this unit to move beyond the sounds of Pink Floyd and into entirely new sonic territory.

Instant sub, this was funny as all hell man! Superb
Thanks Alec. Really glad that you enjoyed it.
Instant sub. I can try and get through most pedal demo videos, tried showing another video for this pedal to a band mate, and it was nowhere near the sound I aim for but I clicked on this one and it was love at first sounds. A man after my own ears. Haha great stuff! 🤘
Thanks Mario. Glad the video made sense for you.
great video!!!!
Great presentation, thank you
Thank you Marcin.
Awesome!😂 And with humour. Thanks for that format 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
hahaha nice video! That Dark Side pedal rules! You would not believe the sound and effects through my old hiwatt amps!
100% with you on that. Dave. If I ever find myself with access to a decent Hiwatt, I'll be sure to try it out.
Fun demo!
This is so cool
It really is. I made an almost unforgivable mistake not investigating the pedal's true potential sooner.
El mejor video sobre el dark side 👍
sounds really good, almost has a math rock edge towards it, like time signature changes, have you tried the Loomer pedal (my bloody valentine)?
Yeah the delay element does have that kind of Battles vive about it. As for the Loomer, I really should check that out.
@@tribeofnames6189 it's the ultimate shoegaze in a box, definitely good for psychedelia as well as shoegaze
I really must buy one of those before.
This one certainly seems to deliver the goods.
any tips on dialing in Hendrix tones with the uni vibe/fuzz?
That's a great question Konstantin. I spent some time dialing in sounds to see if I could obtain that fuzzed up wash because of your question and while I am no genius like Hendrix was, if you choose the flat setting on the fuzz circuit, dial the Phase/U-vibe over to about 3-4 o'clock and bring the rate down to about 9 o'clock, that will definitely get you close to that Hendrix psychedelic vibe.
Thanks again for your comment.
@@tribeofnames6189 i'll try it out! thanks mate!
@@konstantinkonstantinov2773 You're very welcome. Happy playing!
get the keely monterey, it's the jimi hendrix version, it comes with fuzz, rotary, auto wah, and univibe
Is that a Mesa Lone Star behind you there?
Hi there. It's a Mesa 5:50 Express Plus. It was my go-to live touring and recording amp for years.

I LOVE mine!!!!❤❤❤
My “MAIN” Pedal!!!!
“David Gilmour in a Box”
(Why would you want to sound like anybody else??)🙄
I so wish I would've bought a couple of V1's when they were still available. The switch is handy, but the insert is so much more flexible.
I too would love to own a V1 of this unit for exactly the same reason.
Animals is the best Pink Floyd album.
It's certainly one of my favorites as well.
Does it Djent?
I'll let you know.
@@tribeofnames6189 well?
It's a bit too flabby at the low end (even with EQ adjusted) for my tastes,@@Nicholas_PA. That said, it you are into those Sunn O))) walls of sound, this pedal with get you a good way there just on its own.

a year later and you responded?! Much appreciated.
I’ve been on the teeter totter about getting it lately. There are a few other pedals that can do similar effects, but none like the exclusivity of the dark side. If you could go back, would you buy it again, or make a different choice?
You didnt mention animals 🤧
A hideous omission. :-)
😁👍
😎✌👍❤🖖
Don't "dis" The Final Cut. Roger will find out.
Interesting fact; Rog used to drink in the same pub as me back in the day. He was a decent bloke and even contributed one of his guitars to the charity pub raffle.
Is a masterpiece of an album!
