Hey! :) It works with most oily nuts basically, walnuts, poppy seeds, hazelnuts... I've made those version cuz they're a lot cheaper, and also works like a charm!

Pastry chef here! I used to work in a nut-free bakery, and we used ground toasted sunflower seeds to replace the almond flour. It added a really nice nutty flavour!!
Also macarons usually taste way better the day after, when the cookie has rested and soaked in some moisture from the filling and it's softer 😊
You should try and make Japanese style soufflé/cloud pancakes! 😊

As someone who went to culinary school and who's favourite thing to make was macarons (because we got to eat them or take them home, which was great cause they're usually so expensive): you did incredibly well for the first time!!
Especially considering you didn't use almond. The step where most people usually mess up is overwhipping the egg whites and/or overstirring the complete mixture, which takes out all the air they need to rise and get the little foot.
They are superduper cute Mia, so proud of you! And I hope they were delicious! 💚🐸
I was super impressed too, macarons are quite difficult to do and seeing her have such nice result in the first try and particularly using oat flour !👏🏼 she’s such an inspiration 🥰. And I was laughing so hard when she said she was annoyed to have to wait 30minutes but then was so happy when she saw her macarons did the « thing » 😂😂 so cute
As someone who adores Macarons, I EXTREMELY appreciate you guys differentiating ‘Macaroon’ and ‘Macaron’ because nothing gets me hotter than someone who pronounces it wrong considering they’re two different cookies ❤

In sweden it's easy. Kokostoppar (Coconut tops) is macaroons and macarons is macarons. But we eat macarons nancy more then the other type. Those are called biskvi. So much easier when all have completly diffrent names

As someone who has broken their finger by getting it caught in one of those mixers, you're definitely valid in being concerned about it. It caused a lot of damage. 😅 Very embarrassing to admit to a Dr, too. "What happened?" "Well I was making cupcakes and..." 🤦🏼♀️

Macarons are such a hard recipe almost a nightmare to do, and you did it first try, that's amazing you're an amazing cook!

Right?! I like making them but they are so finicky! Depending on random conditions, sometimes they'll be like "nahhhh, I don't want to work today" and that's really frustrating

As someone who spent six months learning to make these cookies for my own wedding cus they are so expensive but my favorite, I am very impressed!!! Good job Mia!! There's so many fun filling combinations!

@@gr33ngirlsea It was a lot of fun actually!! And just on my free time so not as intensive as it sounds! Just a lot of trial and error. They can be really finicky depending on your technique, humidity, ingredients, oven ect. I wanted one of those pretty towers and it came out so perfect! Just taught myself by watching CZcams and joining Facebook groups to ask questions.
It would be cool if you tried to make croquembouche!! that’s a traditionally very difficult dessert!

I've been trying to figure out what to use as an almond substitute for my bestie's bday, who developed an almond allergy in the past few years and her favorite dessert was macarons, for months.
