When your battery isn’t charging on your ATV, there are three basic elements you need to test: the battery, the stator, and the regulator rectifier. In this video from Partzilla.com, John will show you how to test the charging system on your Honda Rancher TRX420.
We’ll start with the battery, where we’ll use a multimeter to check on the charge coming into the battery. Then, we’ll disconnect the cables from the stator to the regulator rectifier to see if the stator is delivering current to the regulator rectifier. Then, we’ll test the regulator rectifier.
On our unit, we were able to isolate the regulator rectifier as the problem, so we’ll show you how to replace the regulator rectifier on your Honda Rancher 420 and get back on the trail.

had the same problem, got it sorted all thanks to your video, the regulator was giving the .5 reading but where it should be giving no reading it was giving a 1.7 so something was definitely wrong

I have a 2011 420 Fourtrax. I am getting 15.3 volts on each of the windings. Is that sufficient voltage?
My 2008 Rancher 420 has a voltage from the stator of 13.68 on all three. I am guessing that is too low? What should a 2008 TRX420 ES 4x4 be? The output from the rectifier is only 8.98 Volts. to the battery.
What might be the problem if it will not start but you move the gear shifter to the left of neutral before you go into reverse and then press the starter and it starts?
What does it mean if I still only get 20v a/c with higher rpm's ?

What should be the voltage coming out of the regulator rectifier when it's off the machine? Thank you for your video hope to hear from you soon. Also I'm only showing 15 volts coming from the stator at idle when revving it can go up to 35 or more
Did you ever find your issue? At idle I’m only at 15 volts as well from stator.
I have a Honda 125M I got a new Battery for it I ran it not even a block around my house I parked it for a few minutes it will not start no Neutral light or ignition all dead at this time regulator rectifier not sure what it does I ran a screw driver between the two bolts and I got spark it was trying to start but no go I am running 14.00 volts at this time I checked the fuses they look ok not sure what to check next please Help

What would happen if you miss a line a trx350fm 2006 4x4 swingarm bolt? Would it cause the swingarm bolt to fallout and not torque to spec? And the swingarm bolts are rusty I'm asking because I've went through it and couldn't figure it out
