At the bottom of my Google photos menu on my phone it only has 3 things to choose from. On the left is "photos" In the middle is "search" And on the right is "library". The library does not have all of my albums or photos. When I click on search it brings up all kinds of stuff including the option to make a movie. But assistant is not available

You can access Google Photos on the desktop and upload them all. Then they will be synced via the cloud to your phone. Yes, you can cast from your phone or download the video and load it elsewhere via the file. It's pretty flexible.
They updated the interface and yes - it's gone now. Although if you dig around you can still find it - but they are migrating that to Google Photos and so even if you find it, you may not be able to use it. It's a transition time I guess so your mileage may vary.
If you do this on a computer, you do not see the option to select a Blank Movie. However, if you do it on your PHONE, then you do. Silly of Google to not offer that option in both places, but that's what I just uncovered trying to figure it out.

Thank You we have about 200 combined total of photos and videos of our Angel Delilah who just passed last week after 14 years. Will the program accept that much data? Thank You
Unfortunately it's limited still to 100mb and or 50 photos. I have suggested that large amounts of photos be broken into chunks and then upload to CZcams and create a playlist and loop it. But that adds to the complexity.

Like others in this reply stream, I can't find the "Select Photos and Videos" box. I'm working with a lab of Macbooks. So, is there a workaround solution for me and my students to create photo slideshows to music in Google Photos? I was using iMovie, but these are older computers and the quality of video produced degrades. I was really hoping I could use my Google Classroom and Google Photos to create projects. Any ideas?
Unfortunately, the custom video option is only on the mobile app right now. I'm not sure why Google decided to give the more customizable features to the app exclusively.

i downloaded the app on my desktop and the slideshow maker won't let me saved the pics i selected and it doesn't have "create your own" that you showed. i thought i saw something that said i could pay monthly. what does the paid service give me and can i fix my photos on the desktop?

I think I am doing every thing that you have done and every time i hit Create. It tries to do the create and in a min or so it come back and tell me it can NOT Create my movie. WHY? please Help.. Thank you
Animation is crap, all I wanted to do was screen shot ten news articles headlines to make a collage of the day and send it to someone. This task is impossible to do on messenger using the current version of google photos. I used to do it all the time until they took away the slide bar used to adjust the length of time for each frame if an animation. Using movie, the file is too big to use on messenger. All I want to do is share a video that the person receiving can play right inside of their messenger without opening links and moving to another location
Typically, you don't get copyright strikes when posting on Facebook but I'm no expert on copyright law. You don't get charged royalties though typically you just get notified and at worse a take down request.
Make sure you're looking for the photos and videos in the mobile app. The web version still only gives you the options to do the themed photos movies - the android and iphone app gives you the option to make a custom video.
I need help. When I go to create a movie, the "select photos and videos" choice is not there. The only ones are the stock choices. How do I get the choice to select my own photos?

Wonderful! I would only add that to find your video once you've saved it, you have to click albums, then movies. It took me a while to find it.

You may want to look at Adobe spark - you might be able to do something with more pictures with that but may not get as easy and quick.

Dang They randomize the order. My students took pics of the alphabet letters and I wanted them to be in oder. Couldn't do it.
How do you prevent the error messages from popping up? Every time I create a video I get an error message that says "couldn't save movie edits"
On my pc in assistant, clicking movies it doesn't give me the option of "select photos and videos". It has all the other ones though.
The custom option is on the mobile app only currently. Look for it on your iPad or Android phone or tablet.

You have to use the mobile app to get the custom Creation option. Android or iOS both have the option.

Other than making an album, yeah its a little tedious. But cool!
I haven't found album as an option yet either. I'm hoping they add it soon!!
You have to create a shared album and add from there.that's the simplest way I've done it
Can you transfer to a DVD
If you download it you can burn it to DVD or CD no problem.

Not on a Mac - but on an iPad or iPhone. It's the mobile app you need.
When I try this on my computer, only the AI sections come up, not the "create your own" portion.
