  • DREDD - Slum Shootout (2012) Karl Urban
    Mega City One is a vast, violent metropolis where felons rule the streets. The only law lies with cops called "judges," who act as judge, jury and executioner, and Dredd (Karl Urban) is one of the city's most feared. One day, Dredd is partnered with Cassandra (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities. A report of a terrible crime sends Dredd and Cassandra to a dangerous area controlled by Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), a drug lord who will stop at nothing to protect her empire.

      @@EmpirealDemocracy There are literally thousands of people living on that block, and not even a 1% are members of that or any gang. In the movie we see a doctor, a paramedic on the ambulance that cames in the end, I see people working in the restaurants, dispensing tickets on the theater and cinemas of the block, in the lower level I see people dispensing food and providing services. I'm sure there's a service fo taxis on the city... There's plenty of jobs that, while dangerous, they not include cold blooded murder as part of the job.
      If you have already decided that for your family to eat you are going to kill other inocent families because they are not you, you deserve that bullet in the brain.

    • @EmpirealDemocracy
      @EmpirealDemocracy Před 3 lety +7

      @@Veridiano02 They literally say in the film that Peach Trees has a 90% unemployment rate. I'm not pulling this out of my ass. Watch the movie again. Do you think that 90% of them don't have jobs because they're all such evil people that they just like working for gangs for the hell of it? Why are you going to bat for a law enforcement system that the movie tells us does not work ("can only respond to 6% of emergencies")?

    • @EmpirealDemocracy
      @EmpirealDemocracy Před 3 lety +6

      Also, doing jobs that benefit organized crime does not automatically make you a member of a gang. It is perfectly possible that people can do jobs that are in some way connected to gangs without being members, so that point is irrelevant. And, I should point out that the movie (and the comics that it's based off) are not presenting the Judges as law enforcement paragons. Mega City One is a failed society in which law enforcement has become progressively more arbitrary and brutal. You're not supposed to defend a "justice" system in which it is acceptable to carry out executions on the spot. Doing so is missing the whole point of Judge Dredd.

    WTF is with these movie channels with adds?! Does CZcams throw them in just randomly, or are people actually that big of pricks that they monetize channels on which they show clips from stuff they don't even own?

    • @EnDSchultz1
      @EnDSchultz1 Před 2 lety

      CZcams recently (year or two back as of writing) changed their user agreement. Now they reserve the right to put ads on any video they please (see: all of them), "monetizing" just means the uploader gets a cut.
      IE, if your video trips the algorithm's "not ad friendly" flags, you get demonetized, but YT still gets to profit anyway. Cute, innit?

      that was the beauty of the movie. A really simple premise but executed really well. Critics slated it for it's simplicity but that's what made it great, no world changing apocalyptic threat, no complex plan. Dredd sums it up perfectly at the end ''drugs bust, perps were...uncooperative''.
