- After a night of making his case, April (guest star Sarah Drew) agrees to move to Boston with Harriet so that Jackson (Jesse Williams) doesn't have to leave them behind to take over the Foundation. She also admits that she's separated from her husband. At home, Richard (James Pickens Jr.) tells Catherine (guest star Debbie Allen) that it's okay for her to be sad that Jackson's moving across the country, but she tells him what she feels is pride. YESSSSS thank you!!! I'm grateful for it because like everyone, I always rooted for Japril, but this episode really shows how lazy the writers got when it came to giving any sort of closure for Izzy/Alex/Eva/Riggs/Hahn/etc

As a Japril fan from the beginning I actually really liked how they ended their journey. They gave us some Harriet family content, and left of on a positive note with hinting that they will eventually find their way back to each other so I am happy with it

THIS! I was so devastated when they wrote April out in s14 and especially HOW they did it. I'm glad they brought her back like this and rewrote her ending. No, they didn't explicitly state Japril would get back together, they made it clear they were both understanding of their own misgivings and what caused them to fail, and I think that leads to them returning to each other eventually. The way they did this was perfect to me.

I like that they didn't kiss or something because it would've been unrealistic and childish, I like the mature part of them as parents and friends, this is actually a great writing, millions times better than Alex send off, even I love izzex

Yes, you can see for like a split second a flash of hope in his face, then you see compassion as he realizes that she really was not happy and he has always wanted her to be happy in the choices she makes for herself. The lingering stare as they held hand when he asks her "you okay?" and she replies " it's hard to say" You can see how she is hurt and embarrassed that she and Matthew did not work out. If she and Matthew would have worked out she would have been absolved from her feelings of guilt.

No that wasn’t really it. Neither she nor Matthew planned any of that. It was more like exactly what she said-he, and her too, tried to make a serendipitous, fated love story out of the chaos and loss they’d both experienced. But alas, that wasn’t it, they weren’t true love or soulmates.
I can speak for myself how grateful I am for the mature way of giving closure to a character, it gives us the certainty that they are well, happy, in addition to that somehow, they managed to give us everything we asked for ...
A more mature Jackson, who won't let his mother tell him what to do.
An ending with April and Jackson together, really, we couldn't ask for less.

You know this was a very cathartic viewing experience. I honestly didn’t expect a Japril end game, but man, the writers, Mrs. Allen, Jesse and Sarah made it feel earned. There was a full circle story in play. It just was never April and Matthew’s. 👏🏾

Had Jesse stayed on the show, I don't think Japril would have been endgame but because Jesse is leaving, they wanted some kind of good conclusion for him and can't have him end up with the characters that will continue on the show so April it is.

I feel like this was the closure they both needed. They loved each other , got married and had a child together and divorced. Dated others and went their separate ways. But eventually found their way back to each like we hoped for. 💕
April and Jackson still have the best chemistry on Screen. The ending of their relationship made absolutely no sense especially since she had found out she was pregnant before they got divorced. If she had given him the chance I think they could have gotten back together. No one else has come close to the same level of compatibility and chemistry with Jackson. They are magic together.

I started this episode calming myself down expecting to be let down but right there at the end they threw it in and I screamed of joy. April never should have been written off. It is so good to have her back on the show and have Japril together. The writers ruined them and it was the worst thing they ever did on this show!! Thank you for redeeming yourselves!!

I think it’s because this could potentially be the last season. Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith, still hasn’t signed on for another season. And yes, she’s not the only main character, and it would probably survive without her, but I think she’s the biggest factor in whether or not the show continues. I don’t know if this is true or where I heard it, but I think Ellen said that if she ever feels like she wants to be done, the should would end as well. Something along those lines. I don’t think that’s true, but who knows.

These two were meant to be since day one at Mercy West. The way he looks at her so amused and smiles after she describes the size of family she wants and she looks at him with that wide eyed innocent smile. Then the way he looked so hurt for her the first time she was fired for letting that woman die. He fell in love with her slowly as their friendship grew and developed. The reason he became so angry with her when she left after Samuel's death is because she is the person that always believed in him even when he didn't believe in himself and he needed her to heal from the loss of his son. April liked him from the get go only that initially she never allowed herself to believe that he could look at her romantically because she did not see herself as attractive enough to be noticed by someone like Jackson, but the feelings were there.
I love them together and completely agree with you, but he didn’t believe in her as she did with him.
April and Jackson, we finally got Japril. I had a feeling they would end up together. April haunts Jackson as the one who got away. And April needed closure from Matthew as to why she left him at the alter in the first place. When April mentioned coming full circle, she thought she had to with Matthew , but really she is with Jackson. Matthew was just part of the journey. Jackson , I believe, deep down knew he would end up with April. I think he told Maggie that after April married Matthew, that he finally realized what April was talking about in regards to having faith. That April’s faith was something Jackson has a hard time understanding. And now that he finally gets it, it’s too late, he lost April. Even though they don’t actually say anything about their future “together “ it is implied by Harriet, Mommy Daddy. Jackson got his family back!

Bru I could have told you that Matthew and April weren't gonna work. I thought Matt was crazy for getting back together with someone who left him at the altar after the wife who wanted him back died...at the hands of the ex. It was just a mess nothing could clean. Even God left that alone.
She didn't die at April's hands. She experienced complications in the birth and the ER staff was not capable of handling it. If anything, her death is on Arizona cause she was not transferred to the maternity ward like she was supposed to be

If you rewatch the episode her counter arguments are almost always “my” and not “our” which lets you know Matthew isn’t weighing much into her equation. Very subtle but good foreshadowing

I enjoyed this episode! It felt like old times. Their chemistry is undeniable and the fact that they can speak maturely, shows how much they’ve grown. The way Jessie looks at April is stunning. No matter what happens, they will always love one another. Hopefully we get to see their love/life story before the show ends. Good to see you back April!

I hated how they gave April and Jackson such a realistic epic love story just for them to break up when the times got tough. I would have loved to see them struggle and work it out because of how much they loved each other. It just seems like such a waste to have them fall in love, fall apart and just kind of end up together in the end.

Also this scene was wonderfully written.
I've had moments where I disliked Catherine, especially how she treated Richard when he was sick, but the one thing about her character that never wavers is her love for Jackson. She sees him, not the foundation, as her greatest accomplishment.
I actually think this is a plausible way of them getting back together. And I love it ❤️ they both had a lot of growing to do, and a lot of finding themselves...especially Jackson, but I think the love between them never left, and they are now ready to listen to each other, talk to each other and be there for each other. (Yes, I do know it’s a Show 😂 but I love to imagine it is real ;))

I really thought April was picking a fight for the sake of fighting again but she really matured being able to admit she was being an ass for once. Yeah Jackson came out of left field but she knew the whole argument that nothing was really keeping her in Seattle since Matthew left but was too proud to admit it. We kinda got hints of it when she kept saying “my “ instead of “our” (referring to her and Matthew) in her counter arguments. I would have hated if Jackson had to leave without Harriet only to find out April’s marriage was over and half her reasoning was moot. Good on the writers for giving both characters growth

I honestly believe if Jesse wasn’t leaving the show and they kept this storyline he would have moved the foundation to Seattle if April said no or go back and forth like Catherine does. To Jackson’s credit before this he probably would have just left like he did with Maggie and him actually having a conversation with April instead of demanding and having a plan to take care of both her and Matthew comes from a place of maturity because if he was truly being selfish he would have fought for sole custody so he could just go but he didn’t. Everything April was saying was valid but like Jackson said working with the foundation is a chance to do it on a wider scale so if her concern was truly her work Jackson’s proposal really didn’t stop anything. His plan allows her to do more just like him. For once he truly thought of everyone and not just himself, it was extremely selfless just like when he essentially gave up his inheritance to right all the wrong Harper did to those victims.

@@MissFreakinLOL Meredith had a legit argument. Derek was asking Meredith to put her life and a career she was building on hold to chase his own. Jackson was offering April the means to increase her reach with what she was doing so instead of helping people in local rural areas she’d have the means and resources to do it for multiple. This is nowhere near what Derek tried to make Meredith do. Plus April had already given up her career as a surgeon to chase this passion. Doing it for the foundation makes it easier for her and she makes more money where Meredith’s work would have potentially suffered and obviously taken a back seat to Derek’s.

This was one of the three episodes in the entire show where Meredith didn't appear at all. She didn't even do voiceover this episode.

I would like that too, but she was a guest host on ET earlier and said it was only for one episode. I wish she would be there to say goodbye to everyone and drive away with all their belongings
@@sarahswomley2580 Maybe they still had time to film 1 tiny endgame few seconds scene with them being in Boston. Perhaps, she meant that she was a full guest star in 1 episode (in terms of screen time/focus). I guess we'll see. I feel like we deserved more than 1 hug. I understand why there wasn't a kiss in this episode. But I was hoping we'd get a few seconds of something at the end of the next episode.

@@sarahswomley2580 They gave Alex a flash forward with Izzie and their kids. I'm hoping for a scene like that. But if it doesn't happen, then it is what it is. I'm still happy Japril ended up together.

My Japril heart can’t take this! Literal tears running down my face. We survived this team Japril we really did! 😭 yeah I wished we could’ve gotten more. Kiss and more happiness but considering the damage those horrible writers (Krista vernoff) did to their story in season 14 this was the best endgame. Thank you to jesse and Sarah for fighting so hard for us. We had the best captains any ship would ever dream of. We really won!!
the way they both matured so beautifully both as individuals and as a couple but still managed to keep the elements of their characters that make them distinctive is just so...

I really liked April and Jackson before they got together, April was always so cheerful and peppy while Jackson was a bit more guarded but he was also protective of April too since they came from Mercy West together. I'm glad they left the door open for them in the future.
April has become a huge change in character. When she first came on the show, I hated her so much, with every breathe in my body, but now she is one of my favorites, she has really proven herself
Sarah Drew has some of the best scenes in Greys you can’t change my mind on that
OMG I’m still speechless of what just happened!!! I’m so excited for them as a family to be all together. That’s was kind of Jackson wanted before, when he said he’s was grieving what he lost(season 15) so now is open for them to get together & become a happy family with their daughter Harriet. 👌❤️❤️❤️

It was good writing to have them handle this like mature adults, but then give you that moment at the end to hint that he still loves her.

Jackson’s is going to take over the foundation and try to take it to another level with April’s help and if he’s running the foundation he will have to travel to several of his hospitals in which case he will show back up often to gray/ Sloan that’s his dream sake hospital named after his first love Lexie

April and Jackson aged really well and just their Evolution of their story is amazing from them being best friends to falling in love, to having a kid that passed, and then having another kid together and then breaking up but still coparenting together I’m just glad that they end Jackson’s story like how it started off with him and his best friend taking on new horizons
